Donations for Texas
I would like to set up something for my dd birthday where we collect toys for the kids in Texas. Anyone know who would be collecting that specifically?
Or should I stick with traditional needed supplies?

Such a nice idea however, sending any type of goods is not the best options. Monetary donations are best. Monetary donations are used as needed to buy items needed. We all think what families need is to replace all items lost, but right now that is not what they need. Most if not all those toys and supplies sent will go to waste and never given to families. I spent over 2 yrs working with storm victims

Thank you for the info! So who do you suggest the donations go to?

I just donated to Blue Willow Bookshop in Houston. They are collecting donations to purchase books for children, schools and libraries.

If you reach out on Facebook and find a teacher from the area, you may be able to send school supplies, classroom supplies, books. I'm sure a lot of the kids in shelters have to go to school. Maybe you can find a school where the storm victims are going and donate backpacks?

To be honest, I would not donate toys. Disaster relief experts are saying money is what is most needed. Unless you can find a local charity with specific donation requests.
