Would you say something?
I'm a newborn photographer and I had a session last week where the mom asked me about editing because she captured a great picture of her daughter, but she wanted the background fixed. I offered to edit it for her. She sent me the picture today and it's a really dangerous pose that should only be done as a composite. I know she didn't do it as a composite because she was asking for help with very basic editing. She got lucky that her daughter wasn't hurt. Now I'm torn between saying something about the dangers of that pose unsupported, or just letting it go. I don't want her to attempt more of them, but I don't want to offend her and turn her off from my business and recommending me. What would you do??
Thanks- I'm definitely going to say something! Now, what do you think about this email?
Hi! I'm so glad you like the picture. You took a great picture of the baby! The pose you have her in is always done as a composite because it's much safer for the baby. I'm sure you were really careful with her. I hope you don't take offense, but I just wanted to let you know so you can continue to take great pictures of her while making sure she's 100% safe!

I would say something and if you lose her as a client so be it. If she told me the reason for her not using you again, I'd book you in a heartbeat for thinking of the child first!

I would definitely tell her. You could explain composite pictures and the dangers of the pose in a nonjudgmental way.

Agree, I think you should say something.. just be tactful about it.

I think that's perfect assuming she knows what composite means.

I guess it depends on how obvious the danger is.. if it is obviously a dangerous pose but she did it anyway I wouldn't bother saying anything. However if it is something the average person would not realize is dangerous I think I would say something.
