Ugh- what do I do

Bought frozen chicken nuggets on Saturday

Bag says keep frozen

For some reason I found them in the fridge today
Unopened but obviously defrosted

Should I throw in freezer and say a prayer whenever I make them or should I throw them out?

Re-freezing chicken

According to this site (which references the USDA website), you can re-freeze if it was thawed in the fridge... but the texture may change.

ETA: the link refers to frozen chicken breast. But I would guess it would work for nuggets too? Especially since they are already more processed (preserved) than chicken breast? Chat Icon

Yes and they are precooked. I think they are precooked and you just heat them up.
I think they should be ok

I would make what you'll eat tonight since I think that's your best bet on them tasting good. The rest maybe freeze on a cookie sheet for about an hour and then put back in the bag so they don't freeze in a big lump. I font think throwing them out is necessary but I don't know how they'll taste after refreezing.

LOL good point... chicken nuggets are basically heat up and serve. At least, now that Nell has mentioned it, I *hope* that is the case. Because my 5 year old son has been known to stick his hands in the fridge and eat some chicken nuggets cold, straight out of the package. Chat Icon Chat Icon
