booster seat questions/ recommendations
Just started looking into booster seats for my petite 6 year old daughter. The ones with a back look safer but don't know if they really are. When I google safest booster seats there are so many different lists. Is there a website that lists the safest ones? What kind would you recommend. Thanks!

If she's petite, she probably hasn't reached the height/weight limit for her hardness seat. I'd keep her in there Bc that's where she's safest!

If she still fits in her five pt harness and hasn't reached limit, it is safer to keep her in that. For booster seats I have the Graco turbo for my sons and the turbo deluxe for my daughter. They had really good ratings when I was researching boosters and they were very affordable.

Thanks! She still fits but with a heavy fleece or sweatshirt it's hard to buckle. Do you have the high back or the backless? I've read they are equally as safe.

my DS is a small 6 year old... and i have him in a 5 point harness still- the Graco Nautilus. i like it a lot. Pretty soon we'll convert it to be used as a high back booster without the harness. Then down the line, the back comes off and it will be a backless booster.... I like it because its the same seat, but you can convert it to what you need.

We have the high backs that turn into backless when they are ready. I find that the shoulder belt doesn't sit right on my kids if we use backless. They are too small.

Re: booster seat questions/ recommendations
DS is 8 on Wed. and is still in a booster with a back. He's actually one of the tallest kids in his 3rd grade class and still fits the seat. He has a Britax Frontier 90.
We purchased the seat approx 3 years ago and has been using the 5pt harness up until this past spring. He has been using the lap and shoulder belt since. The only flaw is the seat is wide for my 2nd row bucket seats and DS has trouble buckling the belt.

Consumer reports has ratings for car seats. I think they rate boosters too.

We have a graco high back booster. We had a carseat that converted to a booster, but DS was complaining it was not wide enough in the hip area. I have a graco and it was one of the only ones I could find as a booster that attached to the car using the LATCH. That was important to me. DS is just 6 but built like a 8 or 9 year old. He wants me to take the back off but that is not happening.
