An Echo dot or the new one with the photo screen? My daughter has one of those and listens to music on it, plays 20 questions, etc. She likes it (she doesn't have ipad or ipod though). It's also hooked up to her light bulb (smart bulb), so she can tell Alexa to turn off/on her light. She loves it, especially since she has a loft bed and doesn't have to climb down to turn the light off.
Are they crafty? Sewing machine with tons of fabric, etc? Gift certificate for sewing classes at Crafttree or Little Miss Sew It All type place

Is the Echo dot on the amazon interface? Can you play itunes through it? Our whole life is set to the apple interface so its hard to imagine switching...
The sewing machine is a good idea...I have a great one, but its not kid friendly at all. They are both crafty...we have a cricut and a cuttlebug and they are both pretty good with them.

Yes, Echo uses Amazon...I have no idea about itunes, since we don't use that. But, if you have Amazon Prime, all the music you listen to on Echo is free!

We are also getting our 11 year old the Dot. I don't think it hooks up to Itunes but you can get all the music from Amazon Prime.
This year is the hardest to buy gifts for...everything is either too babyish or too old! She is very girlie so I am getting a bunch of hair accessories, scarves, those onsie pjs. Lots of craft items, sewing, crocheting, painting.

Re: 10-12 year old girl presents
Crashing. My niece is 10 YO and last year I decided to give her "activities" as gifts instead of toys. I gave her g/c to - Ice skating Nail salon Digglerland in NJ (she LOVED) Adventure Park (she LOVED, couldn't wait to go back) Dave & Busters Bowling
This year I'm going to into a trampoline place, indoor go kart place, Splish Splash and Island Rock Gym (rock climbing).

Re: 10-12 year old girl presents
Thanks.
My older daughter loves Harry Potter so we are getting her the pottery barn sheets and a throw blanket and pillow for her room. My younger one is getting a unicorn blanket and a mermaid sequin pillow. I'm thinking another pair of uggs for each (maybe 2). We watch to get the switch because they have been asking for it. My husband is campaigning for a puppy, but I'm pushing for a trip to universal, which blows the budget for sure! I'm going to do show tickets to something (my girls are really into shows, but of course want to see things that aren't quite appropriate, like Hamilton and dear Evan Hansen).
