Thinking ahead to the holidays & gifts

Just was curious what those of you who have therapists, assistants, etc involved in your childs life do as far as holiday gifts? I want to show that I am appreciative of what they do for my son but I made a list and I have 20 people to buy for between teacher, aides, bus drivers/matrons, OT/PT/ST/movement therapists, home ABA therapists, and respite workers. Chat Icon I wish I could give them nice GC's to show my appreciation but we are usually stretched thin during the holidays because of other gifts we have to buy for family members. So just wanted to get an idea of what you do for gifts.

Thinking ahead to the holidays & gifts

It costs so much!!

One year I made cookies for everyone and put them in nice tins. They really liked that.

If you have twenty people, give $5 dunkin donuts GC and a heartfelt note to each.

I have 2 kids... It's daunting to think of the cost..
I never do end of year gifts ..
I usually do Christmas... Thinking of dollar amounts
SAMs club has 1 day sale nov 11 th on gift cards
Target usually offers 10% off gift cards on Black Friday but I don't know this year,.

It creates an undue stress in my opinion

I work as a BCBA and to be honest, nice notes and baked cookies are usually the best! It just shows appreciation in so many ways and we know how stressed our families are! :) I have for my own kids therapists (pt and SI)and will be doing a card with cookies and a $10 GC. They aren’t in school and only have 1 therapist each but believe me if I had tons to buy, cookies all the way! Lol

My son is on the Autism Spectrum. I bought about 5 yards of the puzzle piece fleece fabric. I am making scarves for all the teachers and therapists.

I like that idea of a nice scarf or even a nice blanket that you can get on sale at kohls or target. I have a DS in kindergarten with 2 teachers and 2 aids, PT, OT and a speech teacher that pushes in and a psychologist that does play therapy with him. I also have a DD in pre k with two teachers and a DS in the 3s program with 2 teachers and 2 different bus drivers and 2 aids. It is so expensive!!!

It is crazy how expensive it can get. When my son was at DDI I counted it all up one year and it was 25 people. And that did not include the people that came to our home. INSANE.

Even now in 1st grade, 1 teachers, a TA, 3 one to one aides in the classroom, 2 bus drivers, 2 matrons, PT, OT, ST, and his ABA at home. And then there are the extra cirricular instructors as well.

This.

As a psychologist having worked in public and private schools at most different levels, preK to HS, don't stress about it at all. Most parents gave me nothing. A few gave me small gifts. What meant the most were the cards from the kids and families. No gift is necessary or honestly expected. Honest.
