Yes, went in March 4 yrs ago. I LOVED it there! I don't remember the name of the hotel we stayed in, but it was right near the new opera house and overlooked the water. The rooms was TINY (bathroom was smaller than a cruise ship bathroom and was basically just a shower with a sink and toilet. But it was nice and clean and in a great location.

If you are going to see the Northern lights, try to go when the moon is in it's smallest phase - you want there to be as little light as possible from the moon.

We did 2 Northern lights tours - one on land and one on a boat. The land one included dinner and was good (we did wind up seeing the lights, even though it had rained most of the evening), but the lights we saw on the boat tour were spectacular! Like nothing you could ever imagine. I think most of the hotels also have a sign up sheet so that if you want, they will call your room in the middle of the night if there are Northern lights to be seen.

Also did the Golden Circle tour, Blue Lagoon and rode snow mobiles on a glacier - so much fun! We also spent one day just walking around Reykjavik. There's a big cathedral in the middle of the city that you can go up to the top to see amazing views in all directions

It's such a great, and easy trip. Everyone speaks English and is very helpful and friendly. Plus, everything is set up to make it easy for tourists to get around. Let me know if you have any questions

ETA: I'm pretty sure I booked everything (hotel and excursions) directly through Iceland Air. And just did a search - the hotel we stayed in was the CenterHotel Arnharvoll. It's in a great location - the city is very walkable from there

I went in November. Went with a package that included flight on Wow (out of Newark) and hotel. Reykjavik Lights Hotel.
Northern Lights tour also included. We then purchased on our own other day tours. Hotel was great and included an amazing breakfast each day but was a bit outside main city.
We had an amazing time I would be happy to give you more information.

My DH and I are going on 4/29. We're flying WOW Air out of JFK direct to Keflavik. We are so excited. We have everything planned out - hotels, activities, car rental. What specifically are you looking for? This is the itinerary so far:
Arrive Keflavik at 10:30 am - car service to pick us up and drive to hotel in Reykjavik - one night. While in Reykjavik, there is a free 2 hour walking tour that is supposed to be very good. We want to see Hallgrímskirkja, Harpa, Sun Voyager and just browse around. We have every intention on getting a hot dog from the famous street vendor.
Day 2 - our rental car will come to our hotel and off we go to the Golden Circle. There is tons to do here. We are snorkeling Silfra and have reservations for Fontana Hot Spring Spa. Overnight along the Golden Circle
Day 3 - drive to the southcoast, heading toward Vik. Diamond Beach, glacier tour, waterfalls.

This gives an idea what can be done. I have lots more information

Thanks for sharing everyone! Where are you doing your research on what you should do and where to stay? I tried looking on Trip Adviser but I didn't find it all that helpful. I really don't know what to do or where to stay. Don't make fun of me (although I will deserve it for even admitting this) but I saw it on The Bachelorette years ago and I always wanted to go since then.

In the city it was almost like here - needed to wear a winter jacket, but it wasn't too bad. By the waterfall and other areas it was much much colder. I had a regular, wool, winter coat as well as my ski jacket and ski pants. I wore the ski clothes for snow mobiling and the boat trip. If you don't bring those things, they had them available at the glacier and on the boat

I actually found two places that I thought was helpful - TripAdvisor, for one. Google iceland forum, there is a ton of information. Also on Facebook, there's a group called iceland q&a. Also, quite a bit of info from there. I also read a number of blogs, Google iceland blogs. I ultimately booked our trip through nordic visitor. We're self driving, although, I would not recommend self driving in the heart of winter. If you have a look at the Nordic visitor website, you can get an idea of what can be done.
