Took my boys there over the summer (8 and 6) with a few other families. They LOVED it.
1 day trip. It's only dinner. Very cute, but there's no reason to be there super early and they don't let you in too early either.
Definitly get a groupon. Saves a lot of money

My son loves that place! Definitely can go for the day and come back. It's like 20 minutes from the GWB

My boys have gone there for camp and love it.
Definitely not an overnight trip - it's right near the Meadowlands. But, if you do want to stay - there are hotels very close by.
