If you are willing to go to Nassau county, Dr. Giles Scuderi in Garden City.
He did my knee replacements two years ago.
He only does knees.

Re: Knee orthopedic in Suffolk

The orthopedist I went to growing up was Dr. Carroll in Massapequa. I went to him for years for back problems, but also for a knee problem once. Haven’t been in years, but he was always very good.

I did both at the same time so it was kind of tough - but I am glad I did it that way. 4 days in hospital, 11 days in-patient rehab, then 3 months of out-patient rehab. I took 4 months off of work. Overall, took about a year to recover fully.
Nothing stops me now, although I can't run, it feels too weird and jarring, and I can't kneel, that really hurts.

One of the doctors rec above that works at the hospital for special surgery does not. That dr. has malpractice lawsuits so check things out for sure before you rec someone that you shouldn't.
Dr Nicholson at Stonybrook is fabulous for knee replacement.

I edited my post because its inappropriate to have defamatory statements made about a referral on a website. I will also say, with certainty, the large majority of all surgeons will be sued in their career. That's the nature of the beast. Just because a doctor has been accused of malpractice in a lawsuit does not make it true. There are unanticipated outcomes all the time in surgeries and it is not necessarily reflective of the doctor's skill.

I will add that Dr. Nicholson is my mother's doctor and I agree that he is terrific also.

I happen to know that the dr. here in question misleads people into thinking he works at special surgery when he does not.He has ruined a womans shoulder with less than stellar surgery and after a certain amount of phone calls from her end, refused to acknowlege her and does not have a good reputation from physical therapists who work on his patients after surgery regarding his work. We are not talking about loyalty or looks here but ability as a surgeon.

First, I know for a fact he definitely was affiliated with HSS. He may not be now because of his Northwell affiliation.

Second, "ruined a woman's shoulder"? What does that even mean? According to who? That's a pretty bold statement. How do you know that was his fault due to his surgery? How do you know it wasn't the patients fault she had a less than optimal outcome? Or how about maybe it was nobody's fault and the outcome just wasn't what was expected? It happens all the time. It's called risk of the procedure.

And what do loyalty and looks have to do with choosing a surgeon? I would think credentials, training and experience would make for better criteria.

The bottom line is that putting defamatory statements on a public website making accusations of malpractice as to an individual is potentially harmful, libelous and improper. I'm also willing to bet that at least half of the docs referred here have been sued. Check out the PG board. I can guarantee every one of the highly regarded OBs have been sued. That does not make any of them bad doctors.

It sounds like you are taking this in a personal way. This dr. was not affiliated with special surgery for at least 10 or more years. Are you an employee or a relative?

No, not at all. I know him professionally and I have family who are his patients.

I'm not taking it personally. I just don't like it when any individual who is a small business owner is publically trashed without ability to defend him or herself. If i personally have had a bad experience with a recommended small business, I will PM the OP to share my story.
