The court date isn’t until April I believe. And this could go on and on in court if he appeals, which he will. I would not expect payment anytime soon.

yea i got a letter back in the beginning as well. I had to mail them evidence and i provided an image of our bank statement showing the check was cashed and stuff like that

I checked the court status - On 2/14/2019 the case was disposed. The court notes show that he settled. I wonder when they will be reaching out to us? There's another appearance date slated for 2/25/19.

This is the weirdest thing ever. I just called them today randomly to get an update and then you posted on here. The woman on the phone that I spoke with said there is nothing to share right now, but I didn't know that he settled.

there is nothing on the right side of the screen. it's a search box that asks for an index number. There are other options on the LEFT:
Index Search
Party Search
Attorney/Firm Search
Justice Search
none of them displayed any results when i searched Arie Gal

Sorry, I was half awake when I posted. Yes, LEFT side is correct.
Select "Party Search".
Type in "Arie Gal"
Select the "ALL" option for returned searches (its two or three options down - it's one of those click inside the circle options"
Then click search.
He's the second one.

i searched his name, clicked on All and then under that i clicked no and everything showed up. Looks like he got divorced in 2008 too

Oh yes, I know how you feel. I’ve checked periodically and it so happens yesterday when I checked was the day it went on. I feel for whoever buys that home - not knowing who lived there. I’m sure people mess with him all the time.

NEWSDAY TODAY A Nassau County company found to have swindled new homeowners out of at least $1.5 million for help in completing a free form for a state tax exemption program must close operations, New York Attorney General Letitia James said.
James said terms of the settlement include $920,000 in damages, the dissolution of East Meadow-based YCA Corp., and the cancellation of all outstanding billed and unbilled accounts.
The company and its owner, Arie Gal, as part of the agreement, are also permanently barred from offering any property tax rebate services in New York and must vacate all small-claims court judgments.
“Taking advantage of New Yorkers by manipulating a tax exemption program created to help homeowners is illegal and immoral,” James said in a statement.
YCA Corp., a tax preparation company operating as a “Star exemption advisor,” helped residents through mailers complete forms to receive the property tax break.
The state School Tax Relief Program, or STAR Program, provides a partial exemption from school property taxes for primary residences that are owner-occupied with a total household income of $500,000 or less.
Officials said YCA Corp. submitted bills to residents that often equaled the entire first-year tax break due the taxpayer.
To receive the exemption, new homeowners must file an application with their local assessor’s office. Once homeowners were approved for the exemption, the company sent them invoices. Those who refused to pay a fee were threatened by the company with suits in small-claims court. That often prompted homeowners to pay a settlement to avoid court.

Hi everyone, great news! I spoke to someone in the attorney generals office today. It looks like the next time they are meeting in court will be on May 22nd. Then in 30-60 days we should be receiving the restitution checks if you filled out an affidavit being part of this suit. Also, the lady couldn’t tell me the amount we would be getting. I am so happy to hear of this and even more happier Arie Gal is getting what he deserves!!! Karma!!!

Yes! I definitely sent proof in but I can’t remember if I filled out an affidavit specifically. Was that a separate action we were supposed to take on our own beyond filling out the form the DA sent us? This was years ago at this point which is why I can’t remember. But either way great news. Eff that guy.
