Best time for Disney
I am trying to plan a Disney World trip this year but I can't decide when to go. It will be 4 adults, 6 year old, 5 year old and depending on the time my youngest turns 4 in July. I was thinking of August but I think its too hot. Im willing to take the kids out of school. We are going with my parents. I just can't figure out when to go. Thanks so much!

Best time for Disney
the past 3 years, we've gone the very end of august- like august into september. we don't go back to school until after labor day, BUT most schools around the country are just starting back at the end of august. so its pretty good crowd-wise that week. for us, that makes up for the crazy heat! we don't find the heat to be too bad because all of the lines are covered or inside, and theres a ton of shows or inside stuff to do that gives you 20/ 30 minutes out of the heat. so we just hung in there, drank lots of water.. and had a great time!! i also heard that the end of november/ early december is pretty good, too- not a lot of people want to take their kids out of school between thanksgiving break and christmas break. we're switching it up this year and going the first week of december because we've never seen all of the christmas stuff at Disney. DS will be 8, and he'll miss 3 days of school... i bet later april, like the week after spring break is a decent time, too because kids were just off for spring break week

Re: Best time for Disney
We've been during February break, twice in mid-November, and last week of August.
My favorite time was November, but I am no longer willing to pull my kids out of school for Disney, so that's out for us. Weather is perfect at that time! The 1st time we went it was empty, the 2nd time it was packed...go figure. My DH thinks it was bc the economy was bad in 2009, our first time. You can also do Mickey's Christmas party, if that's a plus for you.
I liked February, but there was an unusual cold-snap that year, so we were fairly freezing on some days...yet, we still were able to have a pool day in there too.
I fought going in August because I hate the heat and I get sick when it's too hot. But, I was actually really surprised...yes, it was HOT, but it was so manageable. I felt like most of the lines were indoor or in the shade, and because it was the last week of August, many children are already back in school so the lines weren't long anyway. The only time I got woozy was standing and watching the parade (which I find to be a waste anyway, but the family enjoys it), but I quickly found some shade. We're actually planning a return trip same week this year...never thought I'd say that!

Re: Best time for Disney
As a FL resident I strongly advise against August. It is so incredibly hot and humid and the sun feels much stronger down here. We rarely go outside in August bc it's so miserable and there are often rain storms.
If you can go any time of year, then late September, October and early November are beautiful. Jan/Feb can be good also but you have to be prepared for cooler days - our temps are very variable those months, there can be days with L40/H64 degree temps and then H80 degree days later that week. April weather is also pretty good as long but can be crowded if you don't stay clear of spring breaks.

Re: Best time for Disney
If you don't mind taking kids out of school, I would highly recommend not going in the summer....it's HOT!
We have been first week in May 2X and first week December 2X and love both for various reasons. May it's hot enough to enjoy the pool, water parks and crowds are low-moderate. There are cheer comp going on in May so I would stay away from some of the All Star Hotels. December we love!! Everything is decorated for Christmas, crowds are low and weather is comfortable.

Re: Best time for Disney
We have gone a couple of times 2 weeks after easter break. It was AMAZING, no one was there. I remember being in magic kingdom on a wednesday and we rode the It's a small world ride 4x in a row because there was literally no one on line.
