Wow, did not see that coming! I heard Saturday is the last day for BRU in Sayville, not sure if it's the same for all stores that were first announced. The final for the rest of the stores is supposedly June.

I heard may 14 for all stores. Who knows. I feel like can shut at any minute.

Try to buy something and add it to your cart. As soon as the website comes up this message pops up.

Thanks for visiting. We have shut down the website for any purchases but our brick and mortar stores are open and holding going out of business sales. You can keep up-to-date with this historic sale at http://goodbuytoysrus.com. We encourage you to stop by your local store and take full advantage of the deep discounts and deals available. Thank you for your business and support over the years.

Sincerely, Toys”R”Us and Babies”R”Us teams.

When I close out the msg the website is there. When I try to add something to my cart it comes up again.

Re: Toys r us.com

I had to buy a 3 yo b-day gift for this weekend. I used to like going to the store to look at things before I made up my mind.
I wound up ordering a Brio set from Amazon.
Shopping online is just not the same.

I see now. It was letting me browse and add to my cart and everything. No messages, fully functional. But when I went to purchase it grayed out and gave me a message. Now the gray message pretty much stays and I can no longer browse or add to the cart like I was just a couple of hours ago....

Guess i'll have to go to the stores if they are still open and not too much of a wreck. I want to look around just one more time!

Re: Toys r us.com

I only shop online so that's it for me for TRU I guess.
I don't deal with stores, crowds and lines.

Never was a huge fan of TRU anyway to be honest.
Always overpriced and hard to deal with

Agreed. I don’t think DD has a single toy from TRU. We would go to BRU sometimes when she was a baby and we needed something that couldn’t wait the 2 days for prime.

Are the in store sales really that good??

No the sales are terrible. We went last weekend actually just to look for a bike for my SO's son and the store looked ravaged and the lines literally wrapped around the store, even if we had found something good I probably wouldn't have waited on that line.

People keep saying that the internet put TRU out of business, and maybe I'm in the minority, but I think TRU put themselves out of business. Any store I've ever been to was a zoo and gross

Nope! The sign says "up to 30%". That's a lie! The whole store was 10% and the Easter stuff was 20%. I couldn't find one item that was 30%.

TRU did put themselves out of business due to its debt and not being able to financially support its own infrastructure. If they had not had as much debt as they did, they could have improved their online presence and shopping experience and keep up with amazon. Instead, they paid 100's of millions per year in debt related costs and had no money to put into their online presence. They did not position their business to keep up with market and shopping habit changes. Their poor use of debt did it to them.

We went yesterday and mostly everything was only 10%off and still more expensive than Amazon/Target.

Yes - their shipping took forever, they usually only had one cashier open and the lines were super long.

I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did - they stopped being the leading seller of the toys in the late 90s - early 00s - way before Amazon. Walmart was the leading supplier then - since it was one stop shopping and easier for many to get to.

Re: Toys r us.com

Yep, I had 100 dollar gift that I used last week and ordered a bunch of stuff for DS because the store didn't have the items I wanted. I got an email yesterday telling me that shipment is delayed and they have no idea when/if the items will even be sent. I am pretty bummed. I would have just went to the store to burn it on something else if I knew this was the plan.

I had a similar thing happen. Ordered several things online after realizing that I missed the boat on the BRU in store pickings by about 2 weeks. There was nothing left of value when I went in person.

I got delay emails on about 7 items and figured that was a lost cause. A couple of days later I actually got the ship notification. Hopefully the same happens for you. I thought I was being smart by saving gift cards until DS was older but this whole ordeal makes me not want to have any gift cards!
