I turned my back for 30 seconds...Vent
Went to friends for dinner on Easter. I pay close attention to my ASD/ADHD son and made sure I gave him his meds and had his next dose with me. Even held off starting new meds so I would not have to worry about reactions.
So, there are 7 kids there, 4 of them are the same age as my son but only one other boy. The 2 boys are inseparable, as always. I stay in the room with them the entire time because my son can be aggressive and the rule is if he hits anyone, even one time, we leave. I stayed with the 2 boys all day. I turned my back for 30 seconds to make food for the 2 boys and when I turn around, someone who does not even have a child is scolding my son for putting his hands on someone. My son is now in tears and telling me that he did not touch anyone. He's frustrated because he is being accused and thinks we will need to leave. This leads to a full on meltdown. UGH. And I know he is not perfect, but he knows the rules and this is really important to him and I know he is trying really hard. I turned my back for 30 seconds. We stayed but my day was ruined and I had to helicopter parent even more. I wish people would mind their own business.
Thanks for listening. But how do you deal with situations like this?

After many years of dealing with crap like that for every single get together, I don't hold my tongue anymore. I would have laid into the person "scolding" my daughter and tell them if there are any issues to speak to me first and I will handle it.
