Hair products for kids hair?
Do your kids use any hair products besides shampoo and conditioner?
My son is 5 and his hair always sticks up in the back. I want to use gel on his hair, but I wonder if he's too young.
Opinions?

I just use whatever I use on my DD's hair. I think at 5 it should be ok to use regular gel in his hair.

I think it's fine to use gel as long as you make sure it doesn't rinse in to his eyes when you or he washes his hair, and if it's just in the back of his head it shouldn't be a problem. I use hair spray on my 5 year olds hair some times.

My boys are like that too. Every morning with bed head. LOL!
Sometimes a little water helps tame it. My older son who's 8 cares and will wet and brush it. Sometimes I use Matrix Design stuff that is light. My 6 year old could care less, but when he gets home from school his hair is fine.

I use hairspray. I'll spray a little on a brush to brush his cowlick down and neaten up his hair.

DS is 5 and I use gel and sometimes spray on his hair to tame it. A lot of boys in his daycare spike their hair or gel it everyday.

Re: Hair products for kids hair?
For this particular problem, I just wet his hair a bit in the AM and then brush. His hair is medium length for a boy... so when it gets annoying, I get it cut a bit shorter.
I’ve used gel too (especially when it’s on the long side). It works too... but the water works just as well for now.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did try looking up Mr Dandy Hair Candy, but it seems that they discontinued it.
I'll have to try one of their other products.

We use DH's Dollar Shave Club hair gel on DS from time to time (he's six, but we definitely used it when he was as young as four).

Hair products for kids hair?
my boys are 4 and 7.... and i put stuff in their hair once in awhile. i started when my older DS was 3- there was a boy in his preschool whose mom was a hairdresser and my DS wanted "spiky hair like Nick" HAHA i just found an adult "natural" (fragrance and dye free) gel that i use. i don't spike it every day, but i'll defiantly put some on there to smooth it down in the mornings if its bad. or like when they have picture day i'll style it a little bit. i use a little bit of hairspray on it, too sometimes.... i think at 5 its ok to use a little bit... just maybe don't make it an every day thing ( i mostly just use some water on it and brush it to tame it down)

My kids hair is unruly. We have to wet it. If there is a special party, picture day, or just a get together i will gel my 4 year old. He looks adorable that way. My 18 month old has already had a drop of gel twice. No biggie.

Re: Hair products for kids hair?
My nephew is 2.5 and he’s alreadt had more product in his hair then I have His moms a hairdresser so it’s just part of his life. She uses a drop of gel to keep his hair in check. I’d use whatever you do, the kids stuff is crap, IMO

Hair products for kids hair?
I used to buy CA baby detangler for my daughter and use every am to wet and brush her hair. One day I was like wtf am I doing spending this much for years. Now I use a squirt of tea tree oil Trader Joe’s conditioner and hot water in a spray bottle. I use it every am. Wet her hair down slightly and brush. It detangles and supposedly lice hate tea tree oil. Then when her hair is done I use hair spray to seal it in (and so lice won’t like it).
Ps I am nervous about lice as she is in K now.
