Captree Fishing Boat Suggestions? (esp kid-friendly?)
My Dad has fond memories of going out on fishing boats with us as kids and wants to do the same with my kids. Most of the boats seem to do 4-5 hour "tours". My kids are 7 and 5 and I can't imagine them lasting that long on a boat, sitting there in one spot, fishing.
Does anyone know a boat that goes out on shorter stints and/or is super kid-friendly?

Captree Fishing Boat Suggestions? (esp kid-friendly?)
My mom has taken dd on the Osprey out of Pt. Jeff. They do a trip every year specifically for teaching kids to fish. I forget how long it is but they require one adult per child and it's all geared towards the kids.

Re: Captree Fishing Boat Suggestions? (esp kid-friendly?)
My son has been doing those with his dad since he was 3. He loves it and has never had a problem withstanding the duration of it. If you go on a good one, there is always constant action so it keeps them occupied. Out of Captree, they like the Laura Lee the best. I think they also like the Captree Princess. DH also loves the Celtic Quest out of Port Jeff and the Hampton Lady out of Hampton Bays. The ones that are more out east seem to get more consistent action but they always have fun on the Captree boats too. One they do not like is the one on Groupon. I think it's called the North Star or something like that. They have gone twice and neither time was there any action at all on the boat.

So funny, my mom just emailed me about this year's dates. They announced the dates in July and the trips are 2.5 hours.

Thanks so much Can you define "action"? What kind of action keeps him occupied? Do you mean like people catching fish left and right?

Action means people catching fish. I've been on the North Star II twice (once with a groupon, once without). Both times we went, there was no action. No one on the boat caught anything at all. Well actually one guy caught a sea robin the first time. I think the captain tries to save gas by staying within a few mins of the docks and that area is just so over-fished. So I def don't recommend that boat. That's the only one I've been on that leaves out of Captree in the past couple years.
The Celtic Quest (Port Jeff) is awesome.
ETA: I removed my recommendation for the Shinnecock Star (Hampton Bays) because it wouldn't be good for kids. There's really no where to sit down on that boat.

Does Captree still have that River boat or something like that that took kids out on a tour?

I think the Delta Lady (or something like that) is no longer there but The Moon Chaser might.
