Skin or allergist?
My 7 year old DS has some spots on his knees. They're white areas and rough patchy spots. First I thought maybe eczema, but doesn't seem to be getting better. He also has a white mark under his chin that's discolored. Do I take him to a skin doctor or allergist to have a look? WE usually pay out of pocket with specialists since we have a high deductible. DH has his own business so pay.

Skin or allergist?
How long have the spots been there? My son has what look like quarter-sized blotches (one on his knee and one over a nipple). When he tans during the summer they show up clearly but you can't see them in the winter. It's not vitiligo but it's a lack of pigment that's similar.

I think I noticed it more bc he's so tan. Funny thing is he used to never tan. WE'd joke we went on vacation and he had no color. Now he's getting tan, but these white spots stick out. Between that and the blotches of dry patches on his knees/legs area and white spots too I figured I might have someone look at it. Figured derm may be better... Nothing too worried about, but maybe suggestion on the knees.

Skin or allergist?
My son has this on his face. I took him to a pediatric dermatologist as I was afraid it was vitiligo. The doctor said it was NOT vitiligo rather it was a form of eczema. He was prescribed a medicated ointment which needs to be applied 2x’s a day. The dr said it will help return the pigment to his skin but advised it would take about 2 months. He goes for a follow up in 2 months time.
