Does anyone watch? Does anyone feel like the way they talked about the adoption was off? Just the way they kept referencing how the baby looked like her and how fast it happened? I guess when you have money maybe that’s the norm. It just seemed off but it could be because I’m hypersensitive about adoption lol

I agree. There has to be more to the story. Ive never heard an adoption, especially a domestic one going thru so quickly and happening via text. My cousin has been trying to adopt any child for the last 5 years and she has had no such luck, so I’m side eyeing this whole thing.

Private adoptions can be that easy. If the social worker knew the babies parents, maybe she is fostering to adopt, which can take 6 months for all paperwork, but fostering can be done within hours.
I was trying not to judge bc I think the red head and her DH are awful. But my best friend is currently doing foster to adopt and it was very quick, and they aren’t rich at all. So that’s kind of what I assumed happened, that the baby isn’t technically there’s yet.

I did Family fostering which should be quicker than regular fostering and it took a long time. If the baby is brand new in the foster care system, you can't adopt them right away unless the parents rights were terminated by the court which takes time; unless the parents willingly signed over their rights.
The story seemed odd - they happened to have a baby that nobody wanted? And her friend does adoptions - a brand new baby? I feel like that would be so rare for an adoption agency.

I imagine fostering laws/rules differ from area to area, bc my BF didn’t have a long time from start to finish. I also don’t believe that she actually has adopted that baby, I think she’s saying it’s an adoption bc it’s “easier” for people to understand, but I imagine it’s not legal or final yet. I mean my BFs adoption was quick, but that still was 6 months. So I don’t believe her that it’s all finalized, even with that kind of money, I don’t see her being able to legally do it that quick.

I would think every state is different in regards to adoption, I wonder if it's a private adoption- where you basically "buy" the baby- I know years ago that was very common.
My sister out of state (PA) did a foster to adopt and it took like 18 months for the baby to be officially adopted, she had the baby since birth.

Every state is different but there is still paperwork, making sure the parents rights are terminated - that was really accelerated and I can't imagine there wasn't some corners cut. Also because there is inter-state adoptions the laws do not differ greatly between state to state.
Same in MD, NY and NJ for foster care. The kids has to be in foster care for atleast 18months before they can legally terminate a parents rights and make the child available for adoption. However, if both parents willingly sign over their rights then it can be faster, similar to the above example but it still takes several months to process the paperwork. I dealt with the system from two different states for 4 years, I learned alot about the system.

Yeah, I had meant at the time of filming. He was born in December, and bc he was awarded to the state by the parents, it was probably easier to adopt him. But I would certainly say that I find the entire thing fishy since the social worker states he was hard to place bc he was premature, and yet Brandi met him at the hospital 2 days after he was born. But I’m happy that he’s loved, bc that’s what really matters.
