Single process & balayage
I have a hair appt for a single process to cover all my gray hair at the roots and a cut. I'm thinking of adding in balayage just at the ends of my hair. How does that work out with the single process? And what is the difference with a full head and a half head of balayage?

I got a balayage and it ruined my hair. I also colored it red and blue and purple, so there is that. I would suggest just getting highlights and see how your hair reacts. It’s been two years.
I have dark hair and the blond is now coming through after dying it back to dark. Do something dark and caramel.

balayage is no different than highlights in terms of the color and chemicals used- but it's how they apply it. For balayage they hand paint them on in specific areas so it looks more natural than the highlight that are done in bigger strips.
Partial usually means your crown/top and framing your face- nothing underneath.
Full head is everywhere.
I alternate my highlights with a full and a partial each time I go.

Single process is one flat, all-over color. Balayage is handpainted bleach and toner to add depth and dimension. Highlights are the same thing except done in smaller sections and foiled. Half a head is just the top/crown, and full head is the underneath/bottom.

Single process & balayage
Ok....sounds like balayage is not what I want lol. I’ve had highlights ghts in the past but did not like them. I really just want a little of a lighter color placed sporadically towards the bottom of my hair and face framing. Nothing near my crown. I will just talk to my colorist the next time I go in a couple weeks and maybe I’ll do this for my visit after that.

I like the baylage because when the roots grow out, it’s not so obvious as with highlights.

Since I have been letting my full head of highlights grow out, I have changed to a single process and Balayage. I have exactly what you described, some face framing and lighter color toward the bottom. It has made the grow out process so easy. I have not had to have my hair colored in 6 months. And honestly I don't really need it done now but want a little pick me up for the fall so am going this week. If you think you want it done at your next appointment call and schedule the extra time but talk to her before she starts.

Thanks! I talked to my colorist a couple weeks ago when I went in for my single process and I’m going to schedule both for my next appointment. She said the same thing as you, that it’s very manageable and that you really only need to do it every 6 months.
