I just can’t believe anyone that’s not a teacher would say if I was a teacher this is how I would do it....
I’m flabbergasted by that
Kind of like motherhood. Aren't we all perfect parents until we actually have kids?

I'm not a teacher, but I would like to think I would run my class this way: Get there in the morning - prep the days lessons, meet with my assistant and discuss what is happening today/any notices going out/anything we should be aware of - basically make sure we're both on the same page. After classes are done for the day (still only 2:45 pm) - discuss with my assistant how the day went and what we have on deck for tomorrow do any prep work.
so I AM a teacher, and it's hilarious how people think this is how the morning goes lmao
This is how MY morning goes. I intend on doing all of what you described, but instead of getting done on my prep period what I wanted to get done, I usually have to spend it doing the following:
1. Calling parents back who contacted me about the previous nights' homework or test coming up
2. scheduling IEP meetings for one of the 16 IEPs i have to handle this year
3. Getting told i have a coverage on my prep for a teacher who called out sick
Not to mention, notices are not given to us first thing in the morning- not in my current school or ANY school I've worked in. Someone runs to the room in the last like 10-15 mins of the day and says "hand these out to the kids." And believe me- when I am in the middle of going over what their homework is or finishing up an example state test problem that they need to know how to do, I am not stopping classes to tell my students to bring this flyer home about a pizza fundraiser to raise funds for their field trip.
AND at 2:45pm, i'm not discussing how my day went with the assistant, because both me and my assistant are running out the door to pick up our children from school. Do you stay after work hours to discuss how your day went? I think not.
Spot. On.
seriously!!!! what a fairytale that would be....i would love my days to go that way but they don't....nor do they end at 245......

Settle a debate (re: Pre-K teacher and family communication)
Face it, you're wrong. If you are so concerned, read the papers that come home in your kid's folder. This is what's wrong with parenting these days. Lack of involvement, expecting teachers to pick up the slack, then blaming them when things go wrong...

B. And as the teacher I would probably think you were a little strange that you saw this notice in there but didn’t take 10 seconds to read it.
^^^^^^ 100%
I am also a teacher... a million notices go home each day. I glance at them, but with 25 first graders, I do not have time to read them all. The notices are for the PARENTS to read

I'll address the reading the letter first....I actually did read the letter, I changed the details on WHY I asked her about it a bit to remove identifying info (in case the teacher is on here/murphys law). But the conversation was the same, I asked about the letter and was told that they had no knowledge of what the letter was about. (it was a general "Welcome to the school" letter) a simple "Oh, that was nothing, just a welcome letter, nothing important" would have been more than enough
I'm surprised that most of you agree on B.

I do not know whether to laugh or cry about this statement. You clearly have ZERO idea what it is like being a teacher. Be a parent and read the notices that come home. Period.

OP, I hope you learned your lesson. Never question a teacher on a LI chat board.

This is Pre-K, perhaps you should take your expectations down a notch....

I agree with this as well. This is the first thing I thought. How in the world can you know how you would handle any of this. It is a jungle out there. I am just glad i am NOT the teacher. Send home as many notices as you want, take my $10, take my nut free allergy free snacks, you need extra help, extra wipes, extra anything just ASK. You the teacher are my hero for taking care of not just my kid but 21 others just like him all damn day...and somehow squeezing in a bunch of learning while you are at it.
Basically chill out and see how the rest of the year goes. Seems like you dont like the teacher and it may be for other reasons outside of this. Give her a chance and then move on from there. We have 9 more months to go
