Should I register?
I know I should because it's my first....but I really don't think I'm having a shower since all my family and friends are back in NY. I only have my SIL down here.

I think you should. People will want to buy you gifts and you can tell them that you registered. I would just try to register somewhere where they have the store in NY.

Yes you should register..... I told my mom I didn't want a shower bc of the hassle of getting stuff back to Chicago (I still have weddings gifts in NY!). But she ended up planning one anyway. Most people gave use gift cards and everything else DH and I were able to pack in 6 suitcases that we checked in. I was able to buy the big stuff here in Chicago. I also got alot of stuff in the mail.
eta: in the comments area of registry, we put we're having a boy and to please ship large items to us in Chicago.

I'm not having a shower (by choice) and I'm still going to register just to make things easier for myself and for my close family and friends who would get me something regardless of whether I have a shower or not. Besides, it'll be fun to go and pick things out!

You should!!! Your family here will want to get you things for the baby so if you register, they will know what you like. Also if they buy it on Babies R Us online, they can ship it right to you (I don't know if they can do that in the store)

I also chose not to have a shower since we moved to Florida and everyone is in NY...
but I still registered since people will want to send gifts you want anyway!

I would. I am sure people will send you stuff. Try to keep it to necessities since you aren't having a shower. This way what people get will at least be things that you need.

because the timing is SO bad. For me to come up it'd be right before the holidays and Rich wouldn't be able to come with me because of his sucky retail job. I doubt that many people would all fly down here for a shower....
so therefore, no shower, which I'm not upset about too much because I hate being the center of attention
