Re: Great read! Compassion for Trump supporters
Thanks for the interesting read. I think she did a good job explaining the mindset of a Trump supporter and I agree with her point that progress is inevitable, but I disagree with the author. These people are voting in candidates that refuse to believe in science, in climate change, the radical theory that everyone is created equal, that women are capable. They are literally in favor of destroying the planet they live on. They believe that the average person needs an arsenal of automatic weapons just because they can. People are dying in mass shootings on a daily basis in the world's greatest country. People who believe differently than they do have received mail bombs. They don't believe in a free press. They don't believe in facts. They are easily gaslighted. Their ideology is dangerous and is affecting the rest of us in a negative way. The author herself states marginalized people have been waiting a really long time for the white patriarchy to get their act together, but we need to have some compassion for the angry white man? How much more time do these people need to wait? I get what she's saying about compassion for these people for something they can't control that's uprooting their lives. But where is their compassion for their fellow man?? I see very little of it, if any. No, these people don't need coddling. They don't believe in it anyway. They need a reality check. Or they need a remote island on another planet to inhabit.
