Off the shoulder dress
Is an off the shoulder dress appropriate to wear to church for my DD’s communion? I bought a dress last year from Nordstrom and haven’t worn it yet. It’s not a summer-y or flowy type dress. It’s fitted and a bit dressy.
If it’s not appropriate then I’ll wear it to a wedding we are going to in June.

Re: Off the shoulder dress
I say it's fine. You should see some of the dresses I saw on moms at my DD's communion. One was so short I saw every inch of her cellulite on her thighs. Classy.
As long as it's tasteful, showing your shoulders should be fine.

I think the no shoulders in church is antiquated. People show much worse than shoulders. And really, the bare shoulders are least of the catholic church’s problems. I wouldn’t hesitate to wear it at all.

Same. I've seen so much cleavage at christenings/communions in the past few years that I wouldn't bat an eye at bare shoulders.

If you're concerned and feel uncomfortable, you could always wear a sweater or shawl while at church.
