If you want to be walking distance to everything check out the Starlux. I prefer to stay in Wildwood Crest or Diamond Beach and then drive over to the action.

If you are going to restaurants closer to the heart of town there is usually parking. If you are going to the boardwalk and dont want to walk there are lots you can pay. I dont remember it being expensive. Was always worth it to me.

Love the Starlux. And you can get the stay and play rate for the piers

Re: WildWood NJ

I also prefer to stay in Diamond Beach. It's quieter, more residential and the beach itself is nicer.
Every time we go to the boardwalk we feel it's very seedy that area and a lot of dumpy old motels.

You can park by the Boardwalk-it just might be metered or take a bit or walking a few blocks.

The place I stay in Diamond Beach though is super pricey so I won't recommend it since you said you didn't want to break the bank.
But I am sure you can search for hotels in DB and there is also a ton of condos to rent if you are staying a week

If you are going to spend your days at the pool and beach id stay in the crest and then just drive down to the boardwalk in the early evening for dinner/rides.

I hated the Blue Palms...we had a bunk bed room which was just okau, and I felt like the whole place was seedy. Which surprised me since it's a Moreys hotel.

We also hated it! Stayed there last summer and will never stay there again. The only appealing thing was the stay and play package price. However, the place did feel seedy to us and desperately needs updating. I actually put towels down on the bathroom floor because it was so gross. The pool was ok and clean enough i suppose.

That whole area is seedy to he honest. Stay in Diamond Beach. It is literally a whole other world

I used to go every year as a child also. When I had my own family we switched to Ocean City and Long Beach Island because it is so sketchy. I definitely would not stay with kids in Wildwood. I prefer Wildwood crest or diamond beach. There is a trolley from Wildwood Crest to the Boardwalk every night that operates for five dollars round-trip. That way you don’t have to fight with parking. I also suggest to check shorerentals.com because a condo is usually more bang for your buck. Or VRBO.
