Being a few minutes late at hair salon
Has anyone been a few minutes late for appointment and gotten a terrible attitude?

No. I’d never go back if that happened. A few minutes is fine, imo. Half an hour or more is different

Re: Being a few minutes late at hair salon
If I am going to be more than 5 minutes late I call. If you were 30 minutes or more late I could understand that impacting their schedule. But they should not give you an attitude. I could see them saying we cant accommodate you if you were 30 min late.

8 minutes is not late. They need to check themselves.

Re: Being a few minutes late at hair salon
I don’t give an attitude when they are 15 minutes late starting my service, so I would expect the same back. Because really - $h*t happens and sometimes timing doesn’t work out.
Chronic lateness is a different story...

Re: Being a few minutes late at hair salon
I try to be on time, but sometimes things happen. Maybe they were annoyed because it means they will have the next customer giving them attitude for running over. I do get annoyed when I am on time for my appointment and have to wait for the hairdresser to be ready for me.

It is my last time. As soon as I walked into this, I knew I was never coming back. They actually called me when I was five minutes late turning in parking lot. I must have apologized five separate times. I have been in and out of there for many years, but that was my last and final visit.

8 minutes is late and prolongs the time needed to perform the services, causing other clients to have to wait and messing up the schedule. I think it’s courtesynto call if you are going to Ben late. On the flip side I hate getting there on time or early even and still having to wait 20 min. They never Call the client to say they are running late lol

agree
There is no excuse for them giving you attitude. They can ask you politely to please be sure to call next time so they can use that time (She can start someones highlights or even that could be her lunch break etc)
Similar - we have a dog grooming business and lateness matters. Dogs are booked 30 min - 45 min apart depending on the breed. When one dog is late, it throws the entire schedule off. Then if 2 or more are even 5-8 min late, everything runs late. So I get it. But to give your client an attitude? Big no no

8 minutes is not late where they should be giving you an attitude. I would find a new salon.

Exactly. There.is never an excuse to treat a customer like that. They aren't saving lives.

May I ask what they said to give you an attitude? There is no excuse not to be professional, but I’m curious what they actually said.

Being a few minutes late at hair salon
I guess I’m the odd man out but late is late. If you have an appointment at 2 PM you should be there a few minutes prior. If something happened just give them a quick courtesy call.

Re: Being a few minutes late at hair salon
If I am running late to an appointment (even 5 min), I call. I think it is only common courtesy.
Who gave you the attitude, front desk or stylist?

As soon as I walked up to front desk. I apologized profusely and nobody answered me and handed me a robe. I asked if I should go to girl I was booked with and they said yes. I walked up to her. I know she saw me and would not lift her head from phone. I apologized and explained my situation and she barely responded. She told me what chair to sit at. Throughout my time with her, she was cold and I felt very uncomfortable. It was obvious. I have never been late. I even offered to leave with wet hair. I just said to myself, I am never coming back. I apologized again when I was leaving. I am very big on one should never be late and Im never late.

agreed - my husband is a barber and a few minutes doesn't seem like much, but if they're good at their timing, it sets their whole schedule off (including if they're able to take a lunch). I never understood it, until I saw how his days were affected by some client's tardiness. Now, I make it a point to arrive early for all of my appointments. Obviously, things happen - so a call to confirm it is okay to come in a few minutes late should always take place and rescheduled if necessary

I agree. Late is late, and 10 minutes late moves everyone else's appointment that day back. I understand that it happens and the customer shouldn't be treated badly. But I think it's also unfair to think that the salon schedule doesn't matter.

They sound like @ssholes. Regardless of the situation, that is poor customer service and if they keep it up their retention rate will be low. I would’ve probably walked out before they even started.
This is why I can’t do pretentious / upscale salons, also because they would never know how to do my hair lol.

I in no way think the schedule doesnt matter. I am always respectful of the timing of appts, whether medical, salon. I didnt know what to do as something I couldnt help came up. I even offered to cut my appt short to make up for time, on top of apologizing many times. Fact is, I don’t feel comfortable returning due to how I felt when I was there, the coldness due to this, so I will never go back and they lost a long time customer.

Exactly all the salon had to say is they wouldn’t take you when they called, or give you a courteous warning. That’s it, no need to be nasty and rude. It’s a business and they should act accordingly.
I mean is this a salon for the celebs that’s exclusive? Like get off your high horse.

Yep. Salons are a dime a dozen. They can go fuk themselves with an attitude like that. So unprofessional and rude. I would never go back and tell them why too. I wouldn't stand for being treated that way Again they aren't performing brain surgery.

I actually was at my hair appointment on time and my hairdresser was 20 minutes late... I didn't give her attitude.
