estrogen dominance?
Does anyone suffer from this?
I think i have this. For a while i think we thought it was Lymes. But my lymes has been treated. My awful migraine headaches have continued and when i track them, they're around my period and ovulation.
I also have had a lot of spotting, which just had a sono and i have a polyp i'm having removed on next friday.
My boobs hurt (and full) and mine never hurt. It used to be around my period this past year but now it's A LOT. A few months back i was losing crazy amounts of hair. Worse than post partum hair loss. I've been feeling very bloated lately.
The headaches have been the worst. Day and night for days. I did have a brain MRI a few months back and everything was clear.
Just hard to function with 3 small kids and a husband on rotating shifts.
Any words of wisdom? how do i fix this?

I would go to the dr for bloodwork to see if that’s it.
If you don’t mind me asking , how old are you? I’ve noticed since starting my 40s everything is worse. Migraine with my period, heavier painful horrible periods. Severe exhaustion (I’m anemic part of the month so I take iron for that during my period) and I’ve lost more hair then I’d like to say out loud! I also get hot flashes right before my period as well.
Stinks!!
My bloodwork was actually ok. Nothing was really off that bad. Dr says peri menopause.
I would go to the dr for full panel. Tell them what’s going on. Check thyroid too not just reg hormone testing.

i'm 37 and i have low ovarian reserve so i will be going through menopause early. I have had my thyroid tested in october and all is good on that front.
However this definitely isn't that. The headaches are migraines and they're so bad i often want to throw up. They are from the time i wake up in the morning until i go to bed at night. In July, it lasted a month and a half. A month and a half of constant headaches/migraines. Some months it's only a couple of days. Right now it's day 7 of them.
The thing with estrogen dominance from what i've read is that if not treated and under control, it can increase your odds for cancer significantly. So i definitely want to get to the bottom of this ASAP.
But also i can't function like this. It's nearly impossible with a FT job and 3 kids.

Yes. Estrogen dominance does increase your chances of cancer. It happened to my sister. At 49 she needed a total hysterectomy due to endometrial cancer. She doesn’t carry a gene and is not overweight. It was solely from her estrogen. It had been high and tested high for years and her drs were watching. Hey caught it super early and she is ok. No treatment needed after surgery.
Definitely have hormones checked. It cannot be easy living with this type of pain

I know this is an old post - I was wondering how you made out?
I am - it's not so much that I produce too much estrogen, I just don't produce enough progesterone so I'm considered estrogen dominance too.
We found out a long time ago during my period of secondary infertility. Along with that they didn't go into it too much, but recently I moved and finally had enough with my extremely excessive periods that I found a new dr and one thing led to another and we discovered my lining is abnormally thick even though I bleed so much during my period. I also had a uterus filled with polyps despite the D&C I had just 2 years ago to remove some of the lining and polyps. So I had to have another D&C, a polypectomy, and I had an ablation because I'm done having children.
I started taking Vitex and am working on being healthier, etc. to balance the hormones more because it is still possible the lining and polyps will grow back if I don't get things leveled out...so to speak.

Birth control pills can be horrible for migraines.
Glad you are finding some relief.
I get migraines too- but not nearly as often or for as long as you were describing.
I would have probably killed myself if I had to suffer like that.
I get them for a few hours at a time, every few months, sometimes less. I was able to really cut them down with natural supplements. And even with that low frequency and short duration they are the bane of my existence. I vomit for hours on end. The nausea is sometimes worse than the headache.

So frustrating that an OB wouldn't know that hormones can cause headaches. Good Lord!
I'm so glad you're off the BC and finally feeling relief. Migraines are the absolute worst - debilitating!

That is GREAT news! I'm so glad you went off the pill yourself and are a few weeks migraine free. That's proof right there it was hormonal!
I'm only a little over a month since the ablation and polyp removal and am kicking myself for not doing it sooner. How long has it been since you had it done and are you still seeing great results?

I used to get terrible migraines when I was on the pill. When I talked my primary about it, he said it was hormonal, but never told me it could be linked to Birth control. I went off the pill and no more migraines! I hope you are doing better now and will continue to do better in the future.

I'm not going to lie, it was very tough and with 3 small kids. But i've been through way too much in my life that as long as my MRI was clear, then i had to be patient and put on a face for everyone.
i'm just SO thankful that it was an easy fix and that they've stopped.

i had it done February 1st. Have not had a period or any issues since. Hoping that we both have much success with it!
