Amazon Annoyance
Has anyone experienced this? I ordered 2 of the exact same items from the same seller. Prime.
When I searched the item and it came up it said, Prime, Free 1 day shipping.
When I went to put 2 in my cart though, it was Prime but expected delivery was three days out. So I went back, changed the quantity to one and it was one day again. So I ordered the qty 1 and went back in and figured I'd just order the second one and it would be one day as well. Odd that you'd have to order them separate, but whatever. But the second item was still three days out.
So you can get only one of the item as one days shipping. Anything more than that was 3 days. It was the same exact item from the SAME EXACT SELLER.
So why?

It's probably what they have in stock at the nearest Amazon shipment center.

Re: Amazon Annoyance
That's odd.
The only thing I can think of is if there was only one of the items left in stock, and they were getting restocked in a couple of days.

Probably this? I never noticed that before. Just if I don't purchase immediately and come back a couple of hours later, the shipping time is farther away.

Amazon Annoyance
ANd one day prime doesnt seem to be guaranteed even when it says it is....the last 3 times it says 1 day, it hasnt come --- we end up with a $15 credit because we've been a stink about it (I ordered for a birthday...but luckily it arrived the next day a few hours before the party) -- so i wouldnt trust the 1 day no matter what anyway

Amazon Annoyance
Something like that happened to me. I was ordering a toy as a gift for a party my dd was invited to, so I needed it within a few days, but when I ordered it it said it should be delivered after the date of the party. Then when i went back to look at the toy on Amazon it said order by x time to receive it in 1 day. So I ended up ordering a second one just to be safe to make sure I'd get it in time and they ended up shipping together and both arrived in 1 day. So who knows.

It is for sure what they had in stock and could ship in one day. The other item probably had to come from a further DC.

Interesting, never thought of that. I thought the same seller would have their products all in one distro center.

No it's the opposite and I have first hand experience with this. If I want to send Amazon 10 widgets, they will require (for example) I send four to a warehouse in PA, three to a warehouse in Georgia, and three in a warehouse in Arizona.
They purposely do this do keep their own shipping costs down, they always try to ship stuff from the closest warehouse to the recipient.
If a seller wants to send all 10 items to one warehouse on purpose, Amazon charges an extra free to that seller for doing it. Then Amazon behind the scenes will move some of the inventory around at their discretion behind the scenes. When they are moving inventory, it actually becomes unavailable to buy!

Very interesting, I never knew this. Well, now it makes sense!
