Those with 9-10 year old girls...
My 9-year old daughter just started fighting with me. She has always been an overly compliant and cooperative child. She never tantrumed. But within the last two months, she’s been more uncooperative. For example, she will give me a hard time about taking a shower or practicing her math facts. Is this normal? She has had two yelling fits in the last few weeks which she has never done before. Have I just been lucky thus far and this is normal girl stuff?

Sounds like a normal pre-teen girl, but I would still keep an eye out to make sure there is nothing underlying happening outside of your relationship with her. Are her friendships still stable? Is she being social with other friends? That kind of thing.

I have a 9 year old girl too. She is a great girl but yeah, she has the same moments. I think its normal for the age.

I have a 10 year old boy, but yes... at 9.5 he started having an attitude with everything. Homework, sports, etc. He was never like that. He's 10 now and much better with the mood swings, but they still occur. It's preteen... Hormones! Also good thing to talk to her too and make sure there's nothing else. Good luck!

I also seemed to make a connection to my 10 year old daughter having these out of character tantrums with her playing fortnite. I actually took it away from her for a few a weeks discussed it being because of her behavior and for the most part she hasn't had an episode since.

Just wait, it gets worse Mine is 12, the muttering under her breath, and the "I don't care" response I get sometimes is enough to make me lose my sh*t. She's a good girl, too...most of the time. Hormones

My son is getting a bit more defiant at 9 as well.
I couldn’t post a link since I’m on my phone and I saw it this morning on Facebook but ScaryMommy has an article about how life with a 9 year old can kill you softly...

Great I don’t think I’m surviving raising my daughter. She is 8.5 and has been what everyone is describing for a while. She probably started at like 6 and it just keeps getting worse.
OP I would think it’s normal. If anyone has any suggestions on how to make it stop or be less please share.
