Makeup Brushes
What do you clean your makeup brushes with? And how often do you clean them? I always used sponges and would throw them out once a month but since I started using brushes for everything I'm clueless.

Re: Makeup Brushes
Mac has a great makeup brush cleaner I use. I also use my shampoo sometimes too. I usually do the shampoo once a month and clean my brushes with the Mac about once a week or every other week.

This may be a stupid question but how do you clean them? Run under the water and rub in the soap until it's clean and the water is clear? Stick them in a cup with soapy water?

I run them under the tap and add a few drops of the soap and rub them to build up a sudsy lather...then rinse until clear. I heard you aren't supposed to dry them standing up, but rather laying down on a towel. Something about the water dripping into the handle and ruining it

Re: Makeup Brushes
I don’t clean once a week. I am not a you tube makeup guru. My brushes aren’t that dirty. Lol. For me, that’s a bit much.

I don't either. Once a month, maybe. I'm way too lazy and short on time to be doing that. I'm lucky to clean my HOUSE once a week. (And usually I don't even do that!) My skin has never had an issue from my filthy makeup brushes so.....

Re: Makeup Brushes
I just use my face soap to clean them. I don’t do it nearly enough as I should.
I basically fill my sink up with water and do a rinse. Then I drain the sink and then fill it up again with face soap (I use neutrogena). I scrub them with my hands until they are somewhat back to their original color. I empty the sink and then run the brushes under running water. Let them dry on my counter and that’s it.

Re: Makeup Brushes
Baby shampoo! I clean mine regularly with the shampoo I use on my kids. Works great and smells good after, and bonus, the bristles come out nice and soft.

I wash them with my facial cleanser. I don’t do it as often as I should though.

Re: Makeup Brushes
In between cleanings with a brush cleaning product, I rub them on a baby wipe.
