Anyone watch this? (About the girlfriend who texted her suicidal boyfriend encouraging him to go through with killing himself; he did, and she was convicted of manslaughter). Finished part I last night. I find this whole thing so interesting. Still not totally sure what to think, other than that they were both clearly mentally unwell people. Sad all around.

I watched part 1 and 2
It’s an extremely disturbing story. I feel horrible for both families but I have a hard time feeling bad for Michele. Clearly she has a ton of problems but how could she tell him to get back in the car
I can’t fathom it
It’s heartbreaking

I remember when this happened. The documentary was interesting. I remember thinking that she was just straight up evil - but there was more to it. She had some mental issues as well as he did. But I feel she deserved to be punished.

Re: I Love You, Now Die

I was very interested in this story when it first happened because both of them were taking Celexa, an SSRI antidepressant, that I had a VERY adverse reaction too. I have never been on antidepressants before or after this experience and never will again. I would also probably never allow my children to take an antidepressant because of this experience.

Given my experience with Celexa I was immediately sympathetic to Michelle. I also spent a lot of time reading through the transcripts of their text exchanges. At the time that this was in the news until today I have believed that she thought she was helping him. As delusional as that sounds if you really dig deep in this case I think it's hard to find her evil.

I watched the documentary the other day and I was so happy with the way they portrayed everything. It was a terrible tragedy and perhaps she could have called for help or convinced him to stay out of the car but the fact of the matter is he was determined to kill himself and if not then, it would have been another time. This was his 4th attempt and his family was clearly unable to get him the help that he needed.

A big part of the documentary focuses on the media and how they vilified her from day one, only reporting small tidbits of the story and not the whole picture. I really think that the media in this country needs to be held to a higher standard given the stupidity of Americans in general to take at face value anything that they read on the internet or see on social media.

Anyway, I hope now that she can move on from this and become a better person, learn from her mistakes and live a positive life.

I am not too familiar with that medication, but pretty much agree with all of this. Chat Icon
