Job interview

I had a job interview this afternoon. It went well and it was in German, so I was a bit nervous. I got invited to a second interview on Wednesday. I’m feeling a bit nervous about it, but that is to be expected.

The thing is the job is for a two-year contract. There is another job coming up in February that is permanent. The permanent job is the best option. I’d pretty much be set for life. However, it isn’t guaranteed that position is available. Would you just take the temporary contract, and if the permanent position comes available, would you just quit after 6 months?

I’ve been networking, and I’m pretty sure I would get the permanent position.

ETA: my cat jumped on the keyboard. I had to edit.

Re: Job interview

I would def take what you can for now because there are no guarantees. And if you get the perm position, go for it.

See there is something in the back of my head that says that would be dishonest and not loyal. I think that’s why I’m fretting over it. I guess I just need to do what’s best for me.

Job interview

I would take the current position if offered and then switch jobs if I got the permanent job. I know it sounds a little callous, but everyone is replaceable.

I get it. But it’s not like it’s personal. It’s business. If they want to keep you, they can offer you what you would be getting with the other position. You have to do what’s best for you and your life. Like the PP stated, everyone is replaceable. They’ll find someone else. Give ample notice and train new person - that would be sufficient.
