I got taken - I can't believe it- STAR related
Yea I'm wondering the same thing. I got a letter in the mail awhile back saying I was part of it and to send proof, but I never heard past then.

If you responded to the letter I am sure you are part of it too!! I had sent proof too and never heard back. Keep an eye out in the mail in the next 30-60 days.

@brooklynbird, I think it was the form from the D.A. that you had to fill out. It was a really long time ago. Happy to have this thread on LI Families to connect with everyone.

I got taken - I can't believe it- STAR related
I submitted evidence to the Attorney General and never received the letter everyone received. Countless emails sent to Christina Bedell and Susan Cohen (who had me scan all the documents Arie Gal sent me), and neither of them have replied. No one answers the phone at the office.
I called NYS Attorney General today and was advised to fill this out (https://formsnym.ag.ny.gov/OAGOnlineSubmissionForm/faces/OAGCFCHome)
I will be damned if after all of this - interview, evidence, (etc) that I somehow get left behind in this case lol

I spoke with Christina Bedell:
this is what she stated:
Case is still with the court - there is a date next week to finalize their agreement...once agreement is finalized, restitution will be issued.
She couldn't say when restitution is going to be paid out, because they need to complete all the bank transfers and try to distribute the money to the THOUSANDS of people he's affected.
For example, she told me I was taken for $1500 - I will likely not get $1500, but they will do their best to get as much back to me. It's unlikely anyone will get FULL amount back.
If you want to cross-check if you are on the list for receiving restitution, you can Contact the consumer fraud department and ask to speak to Adam Levin (pronounced Lehv-in) at 516-248-3302.
I hope this is helpful! I really have a soft spot for all of you because this dude got me!

I am so glad you are all having some justice. I hated that people were victim-blaming when it really looked like something the court should decide for you.

never mind I got the info- They are working on everything now and are hoping to distribute funds this spring. They said if you took it to small claims and had a judgement against you, you may not be in luck. I did not take it to small claims, though, and they said they would be contacting us regarding the amount of money we will receive.
She said there's a few thousand victims, but also that there is a huge pool of money, so she's hopeful we will get full restitution.

I'm going to be pissed if the people who went to small claims don't get restitution. Literally everyone he took to court had judgements against them. We had to spend money on a lawyer and take time out of our lives to deal with that BS. What is the contact information you have? I would like to call and speak with someone.

But either way, it sounds like they are trying to work it out so we are all given what we deserve.

Brooklynbyrd: The restitution has nothing to do with Small Claims Court. Every victim who has been found or identified will receive restitution, which comes from a settlement agreement funded by Arie Gal.
For those who DID get judgments in Small Claims Court, those judgments are all being vacated.
Small Claims Court actions and restitution payments are two different things, neither having any effect on the other.

omg i just came back on here and saw the response to my post in february- that is not at all how it was explained to me i'm so sorry for confusing you all!
Regardless, the explanation she gave on here is way more clear. I just wanted to apologize because I clearly misunderstood her. When we spoke on the phone, I remember speaking back to her and clarifying what she was saying because I didn't understand, even taking notes as to her response. So obviously there was some miscommunication in there somewhere...
To answer your question: No I don't know anything. I'm afraid to call now LOL
