Epi-pens
Has anyone had any luck getting Epi-pens? I am trying to get them for my kids for school and our local pharmacy does not have them in stock. I need a few for before care and after care.

I wish our insurance covered Auvi-Q. It's SO much better than the epi pen (smaller, talks you through the process, more stable in weather changes, etc).

Oh No. Have you called around to all the pharmacies? Maybe your Dr can resend script to a different place. I would imagine it's happening a lot with school starting and people getting prepped. I always wondered why drs. offices didn't carry more of them for this type of situation?

Re: Epi-pens
I get Auvi-Qs. You can get a certain number a year through insurance. We just maxed that out, so I also get Epi-Pens. Our regular pharmacy (CVS) has a hard time keeping it in stock, but I called around and a private pharmacy near me had them in stock. Bonus because it cost less through the private pharmacy than CVS. No idea why.

Re: Epi-pens
Try some of the small private pharmacies around you. I had a very hard time getting an epipen last summer with cvs, walgreens, rite aid, etc.
I found a small pharmacy near me that always has them. My allergist just called it in for me this morning and it's ready for pick up.

Epi-pens
I just heard about Auvi-Q the other day. Unfortunately neither that (would cost 5k) nor epi-pens (would cost $600) are covered by insurance.
Only the generic epinephrine is covered ($10)

Did you contact the Auvi-Q company directly? Do not go through insurance. We get 2 free Auvi-Q per year directly from the company.

This. Most if not all pharma companies will provide needed medications at no or little cost to those without insurance. You just have to call.

I'm surprised this is a thing. What does the pharma company get out of this? Tax write-offs?
I do have insurance and insurance will cover the generic epi-pen. They just won't cover Epi-Pens or Auvi-Qs (brand names)
Thanks
