I am VERY into Hygge so for my mom and MIL I am putting together a Hygge basket for them filled with comfort items such as a book on Hygge, teas and coffees, nice chocolates, fuzzy slipper socks, a calming candle, crosswords, etc. Anything that is comforting and cozy so they can relax and cuddle up this winter.

My FIL has passed away.

My dad loves to learn new things so I was getting a subscription to Master Class for myself (online courses on many topics) and if you buy one right now you get one for free ($180 value) so I am gifting him the free subscription.

For my DH, we decided to not exchange this year because we just a bought house. We're saving the money to put into the house since there are some improvements we'd like to make before moving in.

Every year I make a picture calendar of all the grandkids for my parents, MIL and FIL on Shutterfly... it's pretty much expected of me now lol.

Also this year I ordered personalized drink ware for my FIL and his wife (big drinkers) and MIL (likes wine), and a cookie jar with the grandkid's names on it for my parents.

My MIL and FIL are deceased, so it's just my parents. We usually just get some wine or chocolates or something small. Earlier this year, my father mentioned that he liked the espresso pot we had, so we bought them the same one. But, otherwise, it's usually in the "nothing" range.

My parents do so much for my me and my kids throughout the year and whenever I try to buy them something as a thank you they get made so I make it up to them for their birthday/Christmas.

Mom- I get her a big gift card to Homegoods and another one to Michaels (her favorite stores) plus another something (candles, blanket, etc).

Dad- Big gift card for his hobby and he loves doing puzzles of all his grandkids (I get them made from Shutterfly)

MIL & FIL - they don't live here and very rarely visit so this year I got a frame and ornament with a picture of my kids inside.

Same! I started out making one for my MIL and everyone liked them so much I have to get like 6 now! Chat Icon

My father is getting a new TV from me and my siblings, my mom got an eyevac, my ILs just get the calendar, we don't exchange adult gifts with that side of the family. My aunt/uncle got a restaurant gift card and an Outlander cookbook- my aunt is obsessed. Chat Icon

ETA: DH got two hats (he wears them to work every day and they get ruined so easily), a bluetooth speaker, a griddle/panini press, and these beer bottle chillers because I constantly yell at him for sticking beers in the freezer and forgetting them until they explode. Chat Icon

I do the same every year - a photo book of everything that happened this past year and a gift card to Lowe's (they both like to putter around the yard).

We do a lot of food related: Trader Joe's has an awesome honey set or a cool maple syrup set... really nice looking to gift and gives you a fun variety to try. we've also done chocolate baskets or italian themed. We've gifted Omaha steaks packages.

Other than that, we've given lots of photo gifts, anything on shutterfly-- photo albums, personalized ornaments, personalized calendars, pictures on coasters for drinks, reusable bags, etc. etc.

We've done books or CDs we thought they would like.

You can gift Yeti stuff, that is always a hit. I've done wine glasses with some bottles of wine for my MIL who is obsessed with drinking.

If they live far away, we've given gift cards to restaurants for dinner or drinks.

We've also gotten personalized items that they would like from etsy. Like my father is obsessed with trains, so we got a sign about trains. Another item was like a wooden box that was etched with info and we filled it.

Re: What are you buying for...

Currently not speaking to my mother but I usually gave her money because thats what she needed most

For my MIL: My SIL and I chipped in and got her Tickets to Little mermaid. It's me, SIL. MIL and my 2 nieces. We're going to the show and then dinner after. The presentation of the gift is a colorful mermaid scale looking reusable shopping bag filled with a water bottle with mermaid saying, a wine tumbler for the summer with mermaid saying, a work out tank top with funny mermaid saying ans at the bottom of the bag is a box with the tickets with a personalized cover photo that has the little mermaid image, the theaters logo, and wrote "Our last name GIRLS DAY OUT! and the date under it

For My FIL: His sons are taking him for a 2 day trip to the poconos. For gambling, dinners and possible snow tubing if they can talk him into it lol There was no real way to present that gift with little gifts, so I made a Pocono Brochure. Front says "Our last name Boys Pocono Adventure" Inside has pics of men drinking, playing craps and the back of mens snowtubing. I replaced all the faces with the faces of DH, BIL & FIL. It's pretty hysterical hahahaha
Oh and we got him a chair neck massage thing because his neck always hurts
