Teledoc
So I got a sty in my eye saturday and it is soooo bad. Called doc today and couldnt be seen until next week. So I went on teledoc through aetna, paid $20 saw a doc on video 10 mins later had RX in an hour. AMAZING!! I know it is not good for all illnesses but for something simple it was amazing!

It depends on your plan.
Mine covers obe6, but I like virtuwell better because I don't have to video chat or even talk on the phone. It's all done via a series of questionnaires.
I pay $49 out of pocket for the treatment plan.
Most insurances have a teladoc component that they cover though

What was prescribed for a stye? DD is prone to them but we were told there’s really no medical treatment. Maybe hers wasn’t thAt bad or because of her age?

Teledoc is awesome for stuff like that! My husband has used them 2x and its been great. We don't have a co-pay with our insurance so it's like a free "dr. visit"

I tried using this for my daughter as we were away on vacation in SC and no local doctors or urgent cares took our insurance. The doctor was hesitant on prescribing her anything and told me to get her checked out when we got home, so it was kind of a waste for us. Maybe it is better for adults.

Yeah it's more for adults.
And only for things you don't need diagnostic testing on.
I've used it for sinus infections, yeast infections where I just need a diflucan script, etc

i wasn't sure i would ever use it, but with the scenarios given here... i think i just might.
i'll have to check, but i believe my employer added it to our benefits... as in, they added it to be co-pay free.

We also have it here at work thru our insurance, but it is still a co-pay same as if we went to the doctor's office.

We used it in SC too for my older DS. They didn’t do much either but they prescribed a nasal spray.
We usually go to the hospital when we are down there and someone gets sick since it’s cheaper than urgent care so this was a bit easier.

I usually use Doctor on Demand but I had such a bad experience last time. I had a sinus infection and knew I needed antibiotics. The Dr insisted that I just needed a steroid for inflammation. That cost me $75 and then the infection got so bad I needed 2 rounds of antibiotics to clear it up. I understand the reluctance to prescribe antibiotics for viral infections, but I'm old enough to know when I actually need an antibiotic.

I used it for my son when he got fifths after strep. We were able to be see on mother's day. We ended up staying home as my nephew was only a few months old and did not want him to get sick.

I'm not a fan, handing out antibiotics without an exam, checking for fever, blood pressure, listening to lungs or looking in an ear is poor medical care IMO.

I agree. I can see how more often than not this service can be a big help for the mostly healthy individual but for circumstances when certain symptoms can only be appreciated by physical exam I think this service can be very risky.

I agree also. I can see it being helpful for something simple like pink eye, but I would prefer to actually see a dr in person.
