Kobe Bryant
While I am not a huge sports fan, I was still a little shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. Then I heard about his daughter and the other families/children on board. I cannot even imagine. It is just so sad and heartbreaking.

Re: Kobe Bryant
It’s is really sad and heart breaking. Kids lost their lives so young, families lost a big part of their families. I can’t even imagine losing your parents and a sibling. Beyond tragic. The first month of 2020 has been a constant reminder of how short life is.

It's really sad for all those that died. But as far as Kobe, yes, it's sad, but I've been reminded today about his sexual assault so........ https://www.latimes.com/sports/story/2020-01-26/what-happened-kobe-bryant-sexual-assault-case

RIP Kobe and Gianna...that sexual assault story never seemed kosher to me even at the time. He was never convicted of anything and she refused to testify against him. I think he's accomplished so much and it wouldn't be fair to just assume he is a rapist because someone (once) accused him. Just sayin....

I agree. And for the press to be bringing this up the day after he and his daughter died is just heartless. RIP.

ITA. It is in really poor taste for them to be rehashing the alleged assault 17 years after the fact the day after his and his DD's death. Disgusting. I can't imagine how the family is coping with this horrendous loss.

It’s disgusting and if I remember correctly her rape kit tested positive for DNA of another man she had sex with.

She was barely out of HS, getting daily death threats, and he was a 27 year old international superstar with millions of dollars and a list of lawyers a mile long. Of course it didn’t go to trial.
This is why women don’t come forward.

Does anyone know where the Helicopter was taking them?
One of the safest helicopters anyone can be on; and this still happens. So scary to say the least.

I believe it was to a basketball game or camp that the girls were a part of and that Kobe was a coach for. They say the visibility was terrible- the fog was so bad the police and fire dept weren't flying their helicopters that morning. I heard on the news this morning that the pilot had to get special permission to fly.

There was also DNA from other men she had sex with and none of it was Kobe’s. Whether he had money or not, her story would have fell apart in the stand and that’s why they didn’t prosecute. Similar to what happen in Duke with the Lacross players. The story of the female fell apart but not after a lot of damage was already done. Some women do also lie for money as well.
ETA: this was also men she claimed to have sex with after the Kobe incident. They did settle out of court for money as well.

Re: Kobe Bryant
my sister lives not too far from Calabasas (where the helicopter went down), i live up against the mountains. sunday was very foggy and cloudy.
i heard, this morning, that the pilot had special training to be able to fly in imperfect weather... not sure what that means.
like so many others, what i find terribly sad is that children died. there was another family on board (mom, dad, and daughter). my heart breaks for the families left to mourn such loss.

Re: Kobe Bryant
I am not a huge b-ball fan but I always watch the finals and I always liked him as a person. The guy always had a smile on his face and always seemed to be big into his family and community. While he was far from perfect, as all of us are, there is no need to rehash things from years ago that never came to fruition anyway.
I feel for all of those families. I find it incredibly sad that 3 young ladies with such bright futures lost their lives. I have a heavy heart for the families they all left behind. Their grieving has not even truly started yet. So sad.
