Bathroom Reno rec's & experience
Does anyone have any rec's and experience with bathroom reno. We have a split and need to redo our main bathroom which is about 6x10. We made an appt with Alure for an estimate but I would like to get some other estimates. We're not looking to do anything too $$$ since we don't plan on staying in NY that long.
Does anyone have any experience and also what is the average cost that we should expect to pay? Thanks.

DH did our bathroom himself so I can't help you with that but we did use a vendor on here for our kitchen- J&A Building Services- and they were excellent and I thought they were very fairly priced. Maybe get an estimate from them to compare. I know places like Allure and other large companies tend to be super super expensive.

Alure is going to be a fortune. We used a local guy and bought everything from Home Depot. Cost about $6k total. We didn’t reconfigure anything.

Allure is notoriously overpriced. It's hard to say what is average because there are a lot of variables - full or half bath? are you using all tile or sheetrocking part of walls? marble sinks? even tile can run $1 or $10 a tile. There are subway size tiles and 12" tiles. Your best bet is to get 3-5 estimates, ask your neighbors who they recommend, etc.
Personally, I love HomeRx but you can't be in a rush because they are very busy and book months and months out. Signature One is also very reliable. We've used both for various projects.

We just completely gutted & reconfigured our main bath. Had it taken down to studs, moved plumbing & electrical, and an air vent. Everything in the room was replaced and moved. We hired a contractor who is a friend of the family, purchased everything ourselves from Home Depot/Lowes and all said and done, it cost about $9K. Our contractor was able to do everything himself and charged a daily rate. we had other quotes from companies and they wanted any where from $7K-$12K and that did NOT include any supplies & tiles, etc.

We gutted our master bath and it was less than 10k. Bought everything from Home Depot and had a local contractor recommended by a neighbor. Can you ask around your neighborhood? Maybe someone who just had work done? The company you mentioned was insanely expensive. We got a quote and I almost fell over.

Alure is the WORST!!!!!! Had the worst experience with them. The guy who measured the bathroom, measured wrong and completely F'd up the entire process.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate the responses. I'm going to use some of the rec's on here plus reach out to some folks to get some other recommendations. I hear mixed reviews about Alure and the price estimate we got is $$$ so I don't think we will go with them.
