yes, yes, yes... ANOTHER gift question... but with a little twist
drum roll, please... "how much should i give?" 
the parameters to this gift are:
* my coworker, who i have been getting along with amazingly, invited me to her little sister's quinceanera.
* i will not be able to attend and she knows this.
* i would like to send the birthday girl a greeting card with a token gift.
what should said token gift be???
* a gift card? if so, what store, how much?
* a check? if so, how much?
no. i have never met the birthday girl.
i have a dollar amount in my mind, but was wondering if it fell within "normal" range.
and yes, i will give what i can afford, but just wondering on opinions/ideas.

I would think $25-$50 (but have never been to a quinceanera and don't know what a "normal" gift would be)

I think of it as the equivalent of a bat mitzvah, so between 50 to 100 for an adult who cannot attend. I am in the process of planning my son's bar mitzvah, and just the food is $145 per adult if that gives you an idea for current costs and you are into the cover your plate thing, which is entirely up to you. Of course, how much someone decides to spend is up to them, and don't think a guest needs to cover their plate and then some because otherwise you are spending at least $300 a couple and that seems a lot for not attending.

I would say $50-100 depending on why you could afford or if you know an good nail place they go to maybe a GC to there to make it more personal and she can use it the day before to get her nails done.

You are not planning to go so they are not paying for a plate (if you are going by that). It is not the coworkers daughter, it is her younger sister whom you have never met. I would say the most $30.

I'd say $30 with max of $50. You dont know them and its very kind of you to think of her on her special day.
I think Id go the cash route b/c you don't know what she likes.

Ok, I thought that was pretty ballsy to invite you if she knew you couldn't go lol you'd be surprised but I know people who've done that just for a gift . My favorite is when they invite out of towners knowing full well they can't attend just so they get a check in the mail.

I would send a $25 Starbucks card. Every girl goes there and she'll use it for herself. That is more than enough for someone you don't know and aren't going to the party.
