Re: Seeing a therapist you didnt know was out of network
Posted by Summer123
So Im seeing a therapist for two months now. Asked a few times if my copay I was paying was correct, but she never got the EOBs yet. I get a letter from BCBS stating that visits are not covered. I find out that my union contracts with a different company, Beacon and coverage is not through BCBS. Now I am going to owe money for the past two months of visits. I'm talking about maybe at least $800. I am upset this has happened. Am I going to have to pay this in full? I do have out of network but it doesn't kick in until I pay a certain amount.
Depends if she is willing to work with you.

If you like this therapist often you can stay if you utilize a a single case agreement, if she is open to this. An agreement such as this allows you to remain with her for a set amount of time, maybe 3 months. This allows for termination or the transition to find an in net work therapist.

can you submit for out of network coverage? I see a pyschitrist that doesn't take insurance and I get reimbursed 70% when I submit my receipts.

I also have BCBS and Beacon for therapy. Beacon does pay a % for out of network so I would submit it to them for that
