Landlines in Queens, NY?
Stupid question, but who provides landline (not VOIP) phone services in Queens NY? (specifically Douglaston/Bayside/Fresh Meadows area)
I moved my parents off their landline to Time Warner tv/internet/phone many years ago, but I'm thinking its not a bad idea to have a landline service instead of the VOIP, in case the internet ever goes out.
I remember when I was small, I think it was Bell Atlantic, but I did a search and didn't see it as an option. All my searches for landlines came up as VOIP options, are there no more telephone lines?
Thanks!

That came up when I did a search for Bell Atlantic, but on their site it seems to be digital phone service which isn't a true landline.

Landlines in Queens, NY?
Just checked their site again and it seems like they only offer VOIP not true landline anymore.

****** thing is there is no such thing as a good old landline. Landline work even when the lights are out. Now everything is related to cable, no power, no cable no phone.

Re: Landlines in Queens, NY?
How about getting them a cell phone for when the cable/internet goes out? Obviously, if the power is out, it’s only as good as your phones battery life. But you can pro long that if you have a fully charged portable adapter or charging the phone in your car.

I am in Queens and have Verizon. We have a battery backup installed by Verizon should the power ever go out, I believe it’s good for 12 hours.
