Who isnt working from home?
Me. We have no work at home capabilities at my job. Mostly because they don't want o have any, it is a very technological backward place!

Who isnt working from home?
Me. We have to get "permission" to work from home and log in what tasks were accomplished in 15 min increments. I have two kids home- one is not typical so this remote learning is BS for him and services were abruptly cut with no support on how to deal.
It's better if I come in the office b/c I will not be able to accomplish much at home. I commute to the city, ride the LIRR and subway and can't take time off b/c I'm new and have no time accured.

Re: Who isnt working from home?
Me and DH.
They staggered my office. We are on a skeleton staff - with half the staff working alternate days. One day in the office, one day WFH, one day in the office, one day WFH.
DH works for the LIRR so he is working.

Re: Who isnt working from home?
My boss has not given me the ok to work from home yet. I do have the capabilities to work from home not sure why he hasn't offered that yet.

I do not understand this at all. If your employees CAN do their job at home, let them! It's stupid! I understand that employers are concerned about productivity and their bottom line but just have faith that your workers are doing their job, check in frequently and be on top of it.

Who isnt working from home?
I am not yet, but will be by the end of the week (maybe as soon as tomorrow). But, I will probably have to come into the office intermittently

I am in total agreement with you. I have been doing my job for 10 years and I am not one to take advantage, he is more of a control freak. Hopefully this will change.

My friend works for a place like that. We used to work together, so I know what she does & that it can be done at home. She knew this was a con of the job at the time, since she used to work 1-2 days at home (or more when the kids were sick) but the pros out weighed the cons. Then this happens & they are not set up for it at all.
My office is moving at the end of the month, which obviously can't be done remotely. So I was in last week packing , and will probably have to go in 1 or 2 days before the end of the month. We have a large space & small staff now ( which is why we are moving), so that doesn't bother me much, it is just the subway ride to get there.

This is a fairly new job for me, and while it was a much different work environment from where I came from, I had no idea when I interviewed , how technologically backward they are. We had a meeting today where they told us they won't stop the public from coming into our office, even though there is no reason for anyone to come in as there is nothing that could not be handled with a phone call or email ( we do have email, lol). People brought up WFH...no...cutting back hours...no. But they did say if you don't feel comfortable coming in a few days you can use your vacay or sick time, which is minimal. They likened us to first responders...I work for a coop. In fact the GM even told us that "oh, we are at the downside of this virus already , there shouldn't be too many cases" when literally at same time Gov. Cuomo was on tv saying we may be 45 days a way from the peak! I tell you, I wasn't that worried before....this joke of a meeting has made me very uneasy. They even said if there was actually a government mandated quarantine, they didn't think they would have to follow it, you know because Walmart and supermarkets said they'd stay opne.. .

Who isnt working from home?
Me- I work for a healthcare company in the HR department. A few people are WFH but they haven't given us all the option as of yet and I doubt they will.

Who isnt working from home?
I work for the State and was considered an "essential" employee. Albany just changed our job category to "non-essential" which means WFH starting tomorrow

Re: Who isnt working from home?
My mother works for some union where she has to cut pension checks, work on insurance for its members. So far she was told that she does have to go in but just one day a week. I would almost rather have that arrangement than work from home and expected to be at my computer for 8 hours a day with my kids running around!

Re: Who isnt working from home?
I'm an RN and at work right now (taking a break from charting).
The crappiest thing is I had a terrible flu in mid February and i'm still not 100% (bronchitis after it and laryngitis. my chest still hurts to take a deep breath in) so Im being super vigilant to take measures to wash my hands like crazy.
they've restricted us to one mask per shift and one gown. Granted I'm on an inpatient oncology floor but god knows who may be brewing the virus.

Are you sure it was the flu?

Re: Who isnt working from home?
100%. It was positive for Flu B. I'm asymptomatic of anything else right now. No fevers/chills etc. I had a chest xray that was good. They say its just pleuritic pain from coughing so much. Anti inflammatories help but I just want it to completely go away!!
