not sure how i feel about being given my "papers"
i've taken this current crisis seriously from the beginning, but i have lived with a bit of denial of how it will affect me. my work hasn't been affected AT ALL. i'm usually a home-body, so my social activities haven't changed much. the weather has been crappy in southern california so there hasn't been much desire to go out. i'm a couponer, i have a bit of a stockpile of stuff... i've only been to the store once.
a few minutes ago, i received an email from my employer with documentation to present to any authority that i have permission to travel to and from work because what we do is life sustaining and essential.
travel papers. this is scary. i always lived with a bit of american naivety that this type of stuff happens "over there."
i'm sitting at my desk with a few tears in my eyes.

DH got them too. And a parking pass to park in NYC. He's been told to drive to work instead of taking mass transit. He works in a hospital (facilities- not patient facing). But, yes, it's scary and so sobering.

I just got an email that I will be getting mine soon- for the one job that I have left (I’m a freelancer).
We are going into full lockdown tomorrow. Grocery stores will still be open. This freaks me out and I don’t know what I’m going to do in a few months’ time.

the naivete is shocking - people are living in denial...there is a fine line between hopeful optimism and downright denial and ignorance

My work is looking at giving us safe pass letters because Cuomo has shut down roads before. I also work in essential manufacturing.
