if you have a blacktop driveway..

how often do you seal it? We had ours done in 2017 and it still looks perfectly fine. I think they told us we were supposed to reseal it every year, though. Should I be doing it preventatively?

My driveway was there when I moved in in 1996. I haven't sealed it since we've been here.... it's still in really good shape. Not a crisp sharp black color, but it's a very stable, sturdy, grey colored driveway that hasn't needed any maintenance in over 20 years.

Moved here in 2004.
No idea when previous people redid the driveway.
We did it a few years ago and haven't touched it since. Looks fine.

Every other year is fine since we haven’t been having serious winters. Much better to keep up with it than wait until it looks like it needs it because you’ll start getting cracks and gravel like chips.

We do it when it starts to look crappy. The last time we did it was probably 2 summers ago and it still looks good. The lack of snow definitely helps.

Does it cost alot to reseal? I am thinking we could probably get another year or two

we did ours in 2017 as well. its starting to crack and chip in some spots. we will probs have it redone again this year. we were told every 2 years or so.
