Headaches after wearing a mask?
Compared to what is going on and the long hours our health care workers have to endure masks this is so minuscule. However, since the executive order, I’ve had to wear my mask twice to stores and both times I am experiencing extreme headaches after taking them off. I’m using the surgical kind. I’m really trying to breathe while wearing them but after it’s as if the lack of oxygen really catches up. Are fabric ones better? Any tips or advice?

Re: Headaches after wearing a mask?
That's interesting. Do you think it's from breathing in too much of your own expelled carbon dioxide? I'm going to be honest, I haven't gone into a store since the mask mandate...I make dh go in because I am not comfortable wearing a mask. I get claustrophobic, feel like I can't breathe, the feeling of breathing back in my own hot, nasty breath sends me almost into an anxiety attack. I could never work in a profession where I have to wear a mask.
I ordered some fabric ones online to try...but shipping times are insane. Maybe they will be better to breathe through though. I know they are not going to do anything to protect me, but at least I'll be able to go into a store.

Yes! I’ve noticed it happens to me. Almost like a pressure headache. I can’t breathe with it on. I ordered fabric ones. Hopefully that helps

Headaches after wearing a mask?
I just finished reading an article about a woman who crashed while driving in NJ. They believe it was due to effects of wearing her mask. I can’t link but here’s a quote from the police dept. I’m sure the story will come up on google.
The crash is believed to have resulted from the driver wearing an N95 mask for several hours and subsequently passing out behind the wheel due to insufficient oxygen intake/excessive carbon dioxide intake,” the department said on Facebook Friday.

Re: Headaches after wearing a mask?
Yes headache and dizzy. The smell is horrible but not sure if the cloth masks are good enough. If I have to wear them on a daily basis to go back to work, I will have to get some as I will pass out with the ones I have now.

I wish people would take the damn masks off while driving. Now it's a hazzard on the road

Headaches after wearing a mask?
do you think it could possibly be anxiety about being out in a crowd and having to wear a mask causing the headache

Re: Headaches after wearing a mask?
I can't wear a mask very long at all. I really have trouble breathing. When I go into the grocery store I am basically racing around getting half of what I need because I just can't. I guess this means that even if we are ever let out of our homes, I won't be going to restaurants, hair salons, etc.

Headaches after wearing a mask?
I haven’t experienced this. I have to wear them for work when I do field visitor work or at the office. I do find them to be annoying to wear. They fog up my clothes. Never had the headache though...

How do they expect you to wear a mask in a restaurant. Let's think logically. Eating. Drinking . Come on. Crazy

I think the servers will have to wear masks, not the patrons. I did read that in Georgia the salons were asking the clients to wear masks. I think that could get a little weird you are dying and cutting hair

I said this to DH yesterday when I went to get groceries. It freaks me the f out to go out shopping. It's super eery to go into a store and have to maintain distance, while looking for what you need as quick as possible, making sure you are going the right way down the aisles etc.
I wish stores had the capabilities to just allow for more curbside pick up

Because you can't eat and dtink in a mask? Oh, you meant at a hair salon? Lol. Yeah i can see both the operator and customer having to wear them in the beginning

I think they should but it’s hard to cut around the ears when barbering with a mask tied around the ears. Also hair dye getting on the mask. I guess the customer will have to hold the mask in place with their hands...

I think restaurants for patrons won’t work and school will be hard. I know my 11yr old son would be the one touching his mask, forgetting to put it on. The poor teachers who will have to deal with telling the students, as if they don’t have enough to do. If my son would be a pain, can you imagine younger kids?
Salon can work, I have to wear a mask when I get my keratin because the chemicals are so strong. It’s annoying though but at this point what can you do.

This is exactly why, not to even mention all the microorganisms we breath out, they can get trap in the mask, moisture creates because of our breathing and we breath all that in.

So gross. Makes me want to heave. I literally won't go anywhere that requires a mask right now because it freaks me out so badly to wear one. I make DH do all the shopping.

Re: Headaches after wearing a mask?
I cannot wear it for long periods of time. I don't know how doctors nurses and other front line workers can do it all day. It makes me want to hyperventilate and it also kills my ears.

Re: Headaches after wearing a mask?
I have an N95 mask & I can't wear it walking up hill or up stairs.) I know it is probably because I am in crappy shape, but it is noticeably worse with the mask.

Headaches after wearing a mask?
I'm a nurse and I've had plenty of 12 hour shifts where I wore a mask basically the entire time. It's never been an issue. Many of my coworkers wore them for their entire shifts for months because they declined the flu shot and it was a hospital mandate. I never heard any of them complain about it. Not sure about the specifics of the mask you're wearing though. Now that the public has to wear them I hear lots of complaints.
As far as the N95s, those I could see maybe being more of an issue because if they fit correctly there is no air going around them. I've never had to wear one of those for longer than maybe 20 minutes at a time and I don't think I'd want to, they tend to be very tight and uncomfortable.

I thought about that. Like all the nurses and doctors wearing them for extended periods. I wonder if it's maybe something you have to get used to? Like over time it gets better?
