Phases opening ... what phase is it when we are allowed to go over someones house?

I have been listening to the daily updates and I have not seen or understood what phase we are allowed to visit other people.

I have been listening and not having anyone over or going to anyones house. Really all I want to do is see my parents go over there have them over here.

I am about to break and just do it. They have tested negative (finally able to get the test after the fact They basically said my dad had it but wouldn't let him get tested at that time Chat Icon Chat Icon ) I want them to get tested to see if they have the antibodies, I even want to see if everyone is my house does also just so we can have them come here or me go there!!

Nobody is stopping you from doing it now...like someone said in another post nothing is magically going to happen in two weeks or four weeks.

You just have to decide what you’re comfortable with and what they’re comfortable with based on your possible exposure, their exposure, everyone’s health risk factors, etc.

I didnt read the other post but I dont want to be one of those people who arent following. I want to listen and follow the rules but when are they going to say ok gatherings of 10 or less is fine!! I agree its not magically going to go away which is why they should be saying ok you can gather in groups of XX amount!
That way I know I am not breaking the rules and also it would be nice to hear people stop bitchingg about the fact people arent listening and being selfish!!Chat Icon

I keep wondering the same thing. I would be okay going to my in laws because I know they’re as carful as we are (no stores, sanitizing everything, no contact with other people, etc), but my mother in law won’t do it until we’re told something like gatherings of 6-8 people are
Okay.

Same. I would have my ILs visit us or vice versa. I know we’re all just going to the grocery store every 7-10 days. I would most likely not see my family yet. They’re all essential and my dad is out and about every single day. Both of our families are 3 hours away though so we’d need to stay with family. I’d stay with my sister as I know she is being pretty rigid with the rules, but then everyone would want to see us...

I’m guessing, (totally guessing) that won’t happen for LI until sometime in June. I think we will be on “pause” in the city, LI, and Westchester through May at least.

This past weekend was my grandmother's 90th birthday. We said we would do a bday parade and drop off gifts. She was having none of that. She is a feisty, crotchety beast and she was insistent that she see us as she "may not have another birthday and you want me to spend my last one alone?". (Meanwhile, we all know that she will live to be 110 and continue to grace the world with her grumpy existence LOL). We stood in the doorway and wished her happy birthday. The problem was she lured my kids over with candy so she could hug and kiss them. I was so irritated by the whole thing. We have been self isolating but DH is still working - granted low risk but still out.

When I got home, I felt so uneasy because what if we unknowingly infected her? So now it made me aware that the few minutes of nice interaction is not worth the worry I have now. And I'm also mad at myself that at 41 years old I am still unable to stand up to my grandmother and tell her no. LOL Get a back bone!

Ugh yes I know and I am beyond annoyed about that too we are definitely not going to be unpaused but still would like to know what phase so I have some hope lol.
Honestly I’m probably going to break it and just allow my parents over. They don’t go anywhere except my dad who walks dogs at a shelter but he says is not by really any people and again we are pretty sure he already had it.
I do their food shopping for them so they really have minimal exposure to anybody from the outside world.
I’m also debating doing what Cuomo did and move myself in with them so I can quarantine with them Chat Icon Chat Icon

None of us have even gone to a grocery store in over 3 weeks. We only live 10 minute away and used to eat dinner together almost nightly. Literally, there has been zero outside contact in over three weeks. I miss being in their house, and the help with my kids lol

I’m sorry you were worried and I don’t want to make light of the situation but your story made me laugh.

Also don’t feel bad, It’s hard to fight with the elderly. Don’t worry no matter how old I am, I still can’t stand up to my aunts, uncle and grandfather. My aunt is in Florida saying if it’s her time then it’s her time. Even though she is in her 60s she looks and feels good, so she is safe.Chat Icon She also lives with my grandfather who has heart problems, and he doesn’t care because we lost our grandmother a few years ago, he’s just waiting to be reunited with her. We don’t even argue with her anymore, she’s just going to live her life regardless .

I think it depends if they are high risk or not. My parents are technically high risk being their 70s , bu they don't have health issues.

I would like to go there around Memorial day-i would feel better going there before I go other places ( especially back to work), but my DH is extremely concerned about unwittingly bringing germs to them. He only goes to the grocery store & I occasionally go get take out.

I have a family member moving at the end of may, I and I was hoping to see them before they left, but I don't know if that is going to happen. :/

But where have members of your immediate family been? It’s great that your parents haven’t been anywhere, but the biggest concern should be someone in your household passing the virus on to your parents

We have done some drive bys but they live 10 minutes away. They stand on their steps and we stand in the drive way.

I have seen my parents but try to keep our distance. No hugging/kissing from the kids.

My MIL is 68 yo, lives alone (FIL died 5 years ago). She was doing ok until this past weekend. She won't take our calls and says she doesnt want to talk. Im so worried about her mental state. I try calling her everyday and we went there last week and stood outside 6 feet apart in masks just to see her. But realistically she's alone all day every day and it's gotta be so lonely. She normally has a great social life with friends..restaurants, loves to travel etc. I think the reality of everything and what the near future looks like has gotten to her.

I feel like I want her to come stay with us or my SIL for the rest of quarantine (not even sure she would go for that lol). BUT as previous posts..we have been home but yes have been to the grocery stores etc. So I worry about passing anything to her.

At this point Im more concerned about her mental state and her feeling so lonely. She is normally a tough cookie and to see her crumbling is heart breaking.
