5 Employees in an office
2 have to work from the office due to the directives of the "boss" although both of them would be able to work remotely and have in the past.
3 employees have been working from home full time since 3/17.
Fair or unfair?
It's really starting to get under my skin. It would be nice to be told to leave a little early each day since my commute is a little longer then that of walking from the desk chair to the couch!
Can you guess which employee group I am in?

So how was it determined the 2 that have to go in versus the 3 that get to work remotely?
Are your job functions the same?

It isn’t fair...and honestly I would just lie and tell them I was exposed to someone with COVID and you have to stay home for 14 days.

Not really, we 2 can do the job of the other 3 whereas the other 3 can not do our jobs but all our jobs can be done remotely. My boss just can't handle having everyone working from home.
I don't mind coming in to the office but it would be nice to get sent home early or at least a little thank you.

Another thing that is confusing me- are you in NY?
Are you considered essential?
Don't non essential offices have to be closed and employees remote per the mandate?
I know my offices are all closed and locked and we aren't allowed to go in them

That sucks, but that’s probably why they did it. Sounds like you 2 are higher up on the chain so to speak and they are allowed to have 2 people in the office. It wouldn’t hurt to mention it.

as someone who has to leave her house every day (now, 6 days a week) for work, i completely understand how a thank you goes very far.
i gotta say that my employer is going above and beyond to make sure we are thanked. i would be pissed if they didn't even acknowledge that those of us who are coming in are doing extra work.
