Anyone watch news12 this morning? Tons of HEALTH CARE workers gathered outside a hospital with a do cheering on people and dancing?! (Wearing masks) Weren’t healthcare employees the one saying no big group gatherings? People flip over people close together in public (even when wearing masks). But look at what we see on the news. Trump walks around a meat plant with no mask. Cuomo is obviously getting haircuts but we’re not allowed. I’m getting so sick of being told to do things when the people insisting it needs to be done aren’t even doing it!!!!!

I've never once seen Cuomo in a mask either. Never.
I saw Trump with no mask in the processing plant and was taken aback to.
Some mayor was seen getting her hair done at a salon sbd her excuse, I'm in the public eye.
So much hypocrisy

Ok here’s the thing. The healthcare workers are working on top of each other all day long so if they want to gather with each other to clap and cheer go for it. They are exposed all day everyday.

As for Trump. He’s an ass on a good day so I don’t expect him to follow anything.

Cuomo got a hair cut but so did my DH. You don’t know who gave him that cut. I will say the one side is slightly jacked up so I would not be shocked if a family member did it.

He wears a mask on his way into the press conference - I caught the beginning yesterday - but, he removes it when he's standing right next to someone, not at his seat so...

So they are exposed all day every day so it’s ok? Listen, they deserve more than I could ever describe for what they are doing. But the public is filled with a bunch of idiots who drink bleach bc the president told them to. So they see this and think it’s ok to throw a bbq party with a dj bc healthcare workers are. I saw the comments on social media.

Re: Do as I say, not as I do

I get what you mean. But I’ll just do me and make sure I’m doing the best for society. I don’t care what they tell me to do and they don’t do it. I think differently, though.

It scares the hell out of me that world leaders are not taking precautions. I mean can you imagine if a major world leader died from COVID? As much as I dislike Trump, seeing him die from COVID at this point in time would be a disaster for the US and the world. I’ll take W at this point. He wasn’t the best, but he dealt with crisis quite well.

Cuomo is wearing a mask here:

I also saw news footage of DeBlasio and his wife wearing masks when walking about the city visiting food shelters.

Well disinfecting a subway, I'd hope to God he'd wear a mask to do that, even prior to this virus.

The other day he posted a pic where he was outside wearing a bandana. I don’t even think he realized the bandana was pretty much falling off his face. Chat Icon

The healthcare workers are in close proximity to one another while working. Probably s’more so than when they gather for these events. It’s a moot point really...

Yeah that can't be helped.
They have to be close together in the hospital.
So standing outside together is no different.

All of this. And to give them a few minutes of something to smile about, feel good about when they've seen what hell looks like is extremely valuable to them too.

Re: Do as I say, not as I do

I agree, I don’t think it’s a big deal for the healthcare workers to be next to each other. It’s the nature of the job and they can’t help it. I don’t fault them at all for celebrating. They deserve some form of happiness and celebrations. My heart goes out the healthcare workers.

However, I do think as a message it would be beneficial to display social distancing. Do I think it makes a difference, no. But if you want to push Social distancing and make it your driving point for us to save lives, then on TV is should be displayed that way. And what better way then seeing it done by healthcare workers and government. We also have to remember that we live in a society where many people view the media at a surface level. They see or hear one thing, make conclusions and run with it.

Cuomo has been a hypocrite, it doesn’t surprise me. I’m surprised after the gross comments he has said several times, in addition to him not practicing social Distancing 100%, that people defend him. Trump, I don’t even bother. He lives on his own planet.

So OP, I do see what you are saying. I’m going to start living my life and stay with in the guidelines when out in public. I’m limited obviously, but it’s time for me to move forward. I don’t trust my Governor or the data they are showing.

There is absolutely no way for health care workers to socially distance. We are working on top of each other in the hospital all day long. Sometimes you need 4-6 people just to care for one patient while in their room. We have protocol to put on and remove PPE depending on the situation and we all have to dress in hospital issued scrubs upon entering (at least in my hospital). Sometimes do I think congregating in lunch or break rooms can be excessive.. yes but 99% of the time everyone is just trying to get through the day and eat when they can.

Re: Do as I say, not as I do

i think that the statement referring to how the healthcare workers are close to one another is kind of like how people of the same household are close to one another... when out and about, those small groups of people are allowed to not social distance from each other because they're ALREADY sharing each other's space.

Cuomo getting a haircut... i used to cut my kid's hair when he lived at home. my boss learned how to give himself a fade when he was in high school. i don't know what his home life is, but a haircut doesn't necessarily mean he's breaking his own rules. i've colored my own hair since i was 14. i only have roots showing because i haven't been able to get the color i use.

now, as far as Trump is concerned... Chat Icon Chat Icon

DH cut his own hair twice during this and did a surprisingly good job.
If I tried it- on male or female- OH MY GOD. It would be bad!! Bad
I can't even cut a piece of paper straight.
