Spin-off to what are you willing to do?
Las week there was a post about a system being used at McArthur Airport to purify the air and surfaces of any pathogens (thank you Mrs213). This is a quote from that post:
"But officials there say a new device installed in locations around the terminal Friday could have big implications for airports around the country.
It goes by the name CASPR – Continuous Air and Surface Pathogen Reduction – and it kills 99.9 percent of all pathogens that live on surfaces and in the air, according to MacArthur Airport Commissioner Shelley LaRose-Arken, who believes that the technology may help bring back passengers whose health concerns have kept them away from air travel.
How does it work? CASPR converts oxygen and moisture into hydrogen peroxide, which is then released into the air to attack any pathogens present.
“It’s not new, it’s proven in the medical environment and there’s data behind it,” said airport consultant Edward Shelswell-White. He said that hospitals now use CASPR, and the levels of hydrogen peroxide are not harmful – but are enough to make the airport safer in the age of coronavirus."
I don't know ANYTHING about this system, like if it can be used in other types of environments - such as restaurants or stores - but it sounds great to me. And if it could be used in those types of places, I think it would play a big role in getting things back to normal.
So, IF it could be used in stores, restaurants, salons etc., would you go to places that were using it? Would you consciously avoid places that were using it? (I realize this is completely hypothetical, but just curious if this is something people would be willing to "deal with" to get back to normal)
And since it is already being used at McArthur, would that encourage you to use that airport or make you more likely to avoid it?

If it works, sounds like a great solution .

Re: Spin-off to what are you willing to do?
I’m all for anything that works.. bring it on.
Why would people want to avoid it, because the hydrogen peroxide?

A reason I would avoid it at first is because who really knows what it’s doing to our air and then to our lungs/bodies
How many times have people been told something is safe and then years later find out “oops, we were wrong”
Asbestos , 9/11, every medical malpractice you see advertised on TV daily, etc. don’t go messing with my air unless you know absolutely without a shadow of a doubt it won’t cause me harm

Spin-off to what are you willing to do?
I think if there was long term data to show efficacy without the risk of harming people I’d be all for it but for the immediate moment I’m weary of anything

As kids we also used to run behind the truck spraying pesticides in the air to kill the bugs.
No thanks!

I would.wonder how this would affect the employees working in those places.

Yes. For me personally, just passing through the airport the few times I travel, I wouldn't be too concerned. Working there everyday and breathing that in for 8 hours plus a day every day, I'd be more leery

That’s a very good point.

So if this system was in a restaurant, would you eat there?
If it was in a store, would you shop there?
What about a broadway theater, concert venue or sports arena?

Probably. I am not one to get overly concerned with stuff like that though. I'm just thinking if someone has to be breathing that in all day everyday they might have concerns about the long term safety of it.
