Does this seem right - cabinet pricing

I am getting prices to redo my bathroom (well I was, before the shut down). And I've been working with a company to design a vanity (thank you Nell!), but went to Home Depot the other day and got pricing from there as well, to compare.

I need a custom vanity. The one that is there now is 9" long and I will be replacing it with the same length vanity. When I went to HD, the designer had me choose a couple of different door styles that I liked. I gave her 4 styles and asked her to price out the least and most expensive, just so I'd know the range of what I was looking at. First she gave me the price for the cheapest door style and then said that the more expensive one would be $3000 more! (same brand, same color cabinet, same exact design, just different door style - and not like some crazy intricate style) Does that seem like it could be right? I totally understand that different door styles can be more money, but never thought there would be that much of a difference. Seems crazy to me!

I used Ferguson to make my custom bathroom. It is a one off design. Ai they are scaling things and making them just for you. Is it an ornate style? I am very pleased with my bathroom. The products are really fantastic. I think they have showroom on long island too. My contractor gave them the authority to give me his pricing vs retail, so absolutely ask if yours could do that for you too.

I know the vanity will be costly, but an EXTRA $3000 for a different door style just seems crazy! And none of the door styles I picked were ornate - all just pretty much different variations on shaker style. So I don’t get why it would be that much more for one style door over another

If you look at my name you can see some photos from when I did my bathroom last year. The seventy inch cabinet was $2700 but that included the contractor discount. Without it the cabinet retail would have been $7000

I know the vanity itself will be over $3000. But, for example, with one style door, the price quote was $5000. With just changing the door style, the quote was $8000. Do you know if you changed just the door style on yours, could it have been $5,700 vs $2,700 ? That’s what I’m asking - not pricing for the vanity in general, but if the price could change that much (by $3000), just to choose a different door style

Sounds ridiculous. I am torn. If I am paying 5 grand for a vanity I would want it to be exactly what I want but personally I would probably go with the cheaper door style rather than pay $3000 extra even if it wasn’t exactly what I wanted. I can’t imagine what the difference would be in the style of doors to justify that much more. How many doors are there?

Side note: We bought a pretty expensive Stock bath vanity from Lowe’s last year and there is a spot on it where the water dripped down the front (messy kids) and the paint bubbled and chipped and It looks like crap now. I am sick of paying an arm and a leg for stuff that doesn’t last. If you want something quality and built to last unfortunately you will pay a pretty penny. Seems we are lucky if we get 10 years out of anything these days.

yes. It would have.

Check out http://www.nefstudio.com/ and Ferguson which also owns build.com. I got my cabinets custom from NY Vanity http://www.nyvanity.com/products.php via Ferguson. Do not get veneer cabinets. You want either natural wood or painted because the veneers will come off near heat and water.
