Facebook question

So how do I sort of block someone from seeing new posts without unfriending them?

I don't want them to think I unfriended them, but don't want them to see their posts on their news feed if that makes sense.

Thanks

Re: Facebook question

There is a setting when you share something that you can customize the audience for. So you can set it to Friends Except.....
and then chose people to exclude from the posts.
I think if you do it once, it will stay that way for all future posts until you go in and change it back.
When you go to type a status or share a picture, it's where you can choose the audience. It's a toggle down. Toggle it down, choose friends except.... and then you can pick who you want to exclude.

If you are talking about YOU not seeing THEIR posts though, you can hide them. Then you won't see their posts in your newsfeed but you'll still be friends with them

If you click on the three dots next to their name on a post you can choose "unfollow"

That's only to stop seeing their posts. They can still see yours

You would need to do what NervousNell said above.

you can do this. you do restrict too which wont block them but automatically excludes from seeing i think everything you post without having to the above.

I am 90% sure when you what was written by Nell they will be able to see posts if you tag a mutual friend they have.

You add them to your restricted list. They can only see what you post publicly. I have quite a few people on that list. They see nothing other than what is public.

Oh, what's the restricted list? THey will still see that we're friends but won't see any posts I do or anything I'm tagged in?

then you should put them on your restricted listed that will be your best bet. they will only see posts you tagged them or make public. However I think if mutual friend tags you in both posts they can still see you.

the only way they truly wont would be to block them but even then I know someone who blocked me and we have a mutual friend I wont see her comments becuase I am blocked however I do see when the friend mentions her in a post but it doest come up where you can click the profile just the name appears

You can also create friend lists - and you can customize the viewing abilities of people in that group. https://www.facebook.com/help/204604196335128
