Mommies with Dogs
Okay, the dog hair is driving me NUTS! I find it everywhere on Parker and I'm starting to obsess. I vacuum everyday and sweep, but I just can't seem to get it under control. Anyone else have this problem? If so, do you have any tips or products that work well. I love my dog don't get me wrong, but ever since I had a baby he seems to have started shedding at the speed of light

Re: Mommies with Dogs
I am of no help. I feel the same way and I have two dogs. I do have a long haired dog which I shave and that seems to help. Also, regular grooming really helps with the shedding. MY Dh thinks I'm obsessed with vacuuming and suggested I get help.
Glad to see I'm not the only one.

Re: Mommies with Dogs
I know what you mean! I got the Dyson animal for Christmas, it was a godsend. There is dog fur the day after I vacumm, like I never did it. It is very frustrating but she is one of the family

Re: Mommies with Dogs
Yes.... it's a constant argument between DH and I. Everytime I sweep/vaccuum I turn around and see hair on the floor again. I tell DH that he needs to brush it more often, but he doesn't listen. The dog is not allowed on any furniture, but hair manages to get everywhere. I once found a hair in DS's diaper.

Re: Mommies with Dogs
I've just given up. I refuse to obsess about vacuuming 3 times a day. The fact of the matter is, I have a husky and she sheds like a mad woman. There's nothing I can do about it.

Us too. My dog sheds so much. I vaccum constantly. My dog is not allowed in the living room or bedroom, since this is where DS spends most of his time. That helps.

Re: Mommies with Dogs
Well I feel a bit better that I'm not the only one with this problem. My house is really small and my dog is big. The only place he isn't allowed is in her nursery. He is really good with Parker, it's just the hair I hate. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on some great solution!
Thanks for making me feel better!

I hate it too!! It didn't bother me as much before the baby because I had more time to clean it. I'm constantly vacuuming, swiffering, lint brushing etc.

Re: Mommies with Dogs
I have 2 cats, one with VERY long hair and we also have kitty hair all over. I do vacuum every day but there is always going to be some hair and dander in the air.
I look at it this way, I am exposing this kid to lots of different allergens and boosting his immune system! I think its working, he is 1 and has not been sick yet!!!

I have a choc. lab as well and her hair is everywhere. I vacuum everyday and I'm constanly wipping off her toys that collect the hair with a lint brush. My DH thinks I'm nut too. Not much you can do about it, I love my dog to death so I guess I have to deal with it and DD loves the dog too.

Re: Mommies with Dogs
The one good thing about dog hair, in particular, is that it's supposed to prevent allergies to pets later in life. I can't find the article, but I remember reading something about it when DS was first born. It's still annoying, though. 90%-95% of what I vacuum up is dog hair! Of course, most of the rest is stray Cheerios, stray peas, cracker crumbs, etc....

Re: Mommies with Dogs
No advice but I'm also in the same boat! I have 2 Siberian Huskies. They're suppose to shed only 2 times a year. Well, they lied!!! J/K. They probably do, but not where I live. The weather is so out of whack it's messed it all up. I have carpets and hardwoods and it's all over everything. I could sweep the floor and then a few hours later you can see the little rolls of dog hair blowing across the floor like in the western movies! There's really nothing you can do except maybe shave the dogs. You're not suppose to shave huskies though so that's out for me!

I am sorry, but the lint brush comment made me laugh, cause we are constantly using it on Ali cause she does this:
And climbs all over Casey. There is nothing we can do

My dogs' hair is everywhere. It always manages to get in John's jet black hair and it appears as though John is getting white hair already! No solution, just an "I understand."

Re: Mommies with Dogs
I'm not a dog person to begin with but the black lab came with the husband and the hair drives me NUTS! Since the kids I've actually grown to resent the dog. I know, soulnds mean, but I have no patience because I have enough to take care of all day and don't need to worry about the dog. Our dog is not allowed on any furntiure or upstairs where the bedrooms are. Our house is like 3500 square feet and I told DH that if he wants to vaccuum the WHOLE house everyday, well then sure...let the dog have the run of the house! So needless to say, the dog doesn't come upstairs. Not to mention our new house has real hardwood floors that are not deeply scratched thanks to the dog. OK...vent over!
If you want a realy good vaccuum, get the Kenmore Direct Drive.. Its like $300 and has a feature where it lights up and tells you how dirty the carpet is. Gets the hair up really well!

Re: Mommies with Dogs
Once a week my dad takes his dogs out side with one of those hair bushes for dogs and gives them a real good brushing, I mean he can bring in a good bag full of hair when hes done, and my mom noticed it helped a lot with the dog hair around the house.
ETA: The Dyson vaccume is great too!
